Rhinoceros Party Of Canada (1963–93)
The Rhinoceros Party, officially the Parti Rhinocéros Party, is a Canadian federal political party. It originally existed from 1963 to 1993. It was refounded in Montreal on May 21, 2006, and was registered with Elections Canada on August 23, 2007. It was known as neorhino.ca until 2010 when the party changed its name and logo. The 2006 incarnation was founded by François "Yo" Gourd, who was involved with the original incarnation of the Rhinoceros Party. He has said that he named the new party (then under the name "neorhino") after the Rhinoceros Party and Neo, the ''Matrix'' character. From 2014 until 2024, the party was led by Sébastien Côrriveau (who used the names "Sébastien CôRhino Côrriveau" and "Sébastien CoRhino" when running in the 2015 and 2019 federal elections, respectively). François Gourd
François "Yo" Gourd is a Canadian political figure and entertainer, who has been involved in the Rhinoceros Party of Canada and the entartistes, two satirical political movements."Pied snipers". Granby Zoo
The Granby Zoo () is a zoo in Granby, Quebec, and is one of Quebec's major tourist attractions. It was founded in 1953 by the mayor of Granby at the time, Pierre-Horace Boivin. There are currently more than 1,800 different animals grouped into more than 200 species. The zoo has 516,000 visitors per year and contains animals from Africa, Asia, South America, and Oceania. Cacareco
Cacareco (1954–1962) was a female black rhinoceros exhibited in Brazilian zoos. She is known for receiving many votes in the 1958 São Paulo city council elections as a form of protest vote. Electoral officials did not accept Cacareco's candidacy, but she eventually won 100,000 votes, more than any other party in that same election (which was also marked by rampant absenteeism). Cacareco's candidacy inspired the Rhinoceros Party of Canada (1963–93), Rhinoceros Party of Canada, nominally led by the rhinoceros Cornelius the First. Michel Rivard (musician)
Michel Rivard (; born September 27, 1951) is a singer-songwriter and musician from Quebec, born in Montreal. His father, , was an actor. Michel began his career at an early age appearing in a Canadian television series (''Rue des Pignons'') and in TV commercials. Rivard's career as a writer and composer began in earnest when he became a member of the theatrical group Quenouille Bleue, established in 1970. Later, he became a member of Théâtre Sainfoin, when it was founded in 1973. Beau Dommage and beyond In 1974, Rivard and other members of Théâtre Sainfoin, formed the group Beau Dommage (an old Québécois expression meaning "certainly" or "damn right").
