''Revelation'' is the debut mixtape primarily conducted by Tom Aspaul. It was self-released as one continuous YouTube video on 19 May 2015. It was the follow-on project from Aspaul's debut single "Indiana", which was produced by rising popstar MNEK, and features works from GRADES, Starsmith and Giraffage. Tom Aspaul
Thomas Paul Frederick Dutton, known professionally as Tom Aspaul is a British singer and songwriter from Wolverhampton. He released his debut album, '' Black Country Disco'' in 2020 to critical acclaim. His songwriting credits include Kylie Minogue, Snakehips, Celeste and Becky Hill, amongst many others. Early life Tom grew up on a council estate in the Black Country. Writing songs from an early age, he would play ideas to family and friends, but was not involved in the local music scene. Instead, Aspaul went on to study Architecture, followed by a master's at Central Saint Martins College of Art and Design in London. "Why" is a song written by Nile Rodgers and Bernard Edwards and performed by American singer-songwriter Carly Simon. Recorded for the film '' Soup for One'' in 1982, the film was a commercial flop but the soundtrack album was a success. One of many film-inspired singles by Simon, the song became a top 10 hit in the UK, and was successful throughout Europe. Background The song, like the rest of the soundtrack, was produced by Bernard Edwards and Nile Rodgers of Chic. This was a move away from the usual guitar-based hits of Simon's past. The bittersweet reggae-tinged ballad became a hit in Europe, hitting No. 10 in the UK, and staying on the British charts for 18 weeks. Yma Sumac
Zoila Augusta Emperatriz Chávarri del Castillo (September 13, 1922 (birth certificate) or September 10, 1922 (later documents) – November 1, 2008), known professionally as Yma Sumac (), was a Peruvian-American coloratura soprano. She was one of the most famous exponents of exotica music during the 1950s. Sumac became an international success based on her vocal range. She had five octaves according to some reports, but other reports (and recordings) document four-and-a-half at the peak of her singing career. (A typical trained singer has a range of about three octaves.) Yma Sumac sold more than 40 million records which makes her one of the best-selling Latin Americans in history and the best-selling Peruvian in history.
