RK Metalurg Skopje ( mk, РК Металург Скопје) is a Macedonian handball club based in Skopje. They compete in the domestic Macedonian Handball Super League and EHF European League. History The club was founded in 1971 under patronage of the Skopje steel industry. There, an idea was born to form a team composed of employees that worked in the nearby steel mill. Nikola Bogdanovski accepted the idea after it was reviewed by the board of directors. Thus, RK Metalurg was created. The same concept realized by Bogdanovski continues to live today. At the time, the club didn't even think of playing in any of the European competitions, because they played their best not to be relegated from the first league. RK Vardar 1961 ( mk, РК Вардар 1961) is a professional handball club from Skopje, Republic of Macedonia. Vardar is the most successful handball team in the country, having won fifteen national League and Cup titles. Also, Vardar is the most successful team in the regional SEHA League having won five titles. The team has also won two EHF Champions League titles. RK Eurofarm Pelister II (HC Eurofarm Pelister II) ( mk, РК Еурофарм Пелистер 2) is a team handball club from Bitola, North Macedonia. It serves as the second team for RK Eurofarm Pelister. History The original team was the first handball club in Macedonia, formed in 1946 under the name Pelagonija. It later changed its name to Pelister in 1955. The 60s were very successful, winning 4 championships starting in 1960 until the last one in 1969. The club ended up winning three more titles in the 70s. RK Astraion Strumica ( mk, РК Струмица) is a team handball club from Strumica, North Macedonia. Background The club was founded in 1954. They defeated GRK Kavadarci in a 2012 promotion playoff and play in the VIP Super League. The team played in 2013–14 EHF Cup season. They finished last in their group with 6 loses. In the next two seasons the team played again in EHF Cup but they didn't reach the group stage again. In the 2015-16 season they also played in the regional SEHA League, but they didn't do much where only in the 1 half season they played 14 matches in which they had 2 draws and 12 losses. In 2015-16 season the team also had financial problems who led to most of the players to leave the team. A standard match consists of two periods of 30 minutes, and the team that scores more goals wins. Modern handball is played on a court of , with a goal in the middle of each end.
