Reuben Davidson
Reuben John Davidson is a New Zealand television producer and politician. He was on a Christchurch community board from 2019. In the 2023 general election, he was elected to represent the Christchurch East electorate in Parliament. Early life and career Davidson was born in Christchurch. He got his first job aged just 14 at a café. Later he was a television producer working at Whitebait Media for over 15 years. For seven years he produced the children's show ''What Now'' and later created the show ''Fanimals''. He lives in North New Brighton. Davidson has a degree from the New Zealand Broadcasting School. Political career At the 2019 local body elections, he was elected to the Banks Peninsula Community Board. Christchurch East, originally called Christchurch City East, is a current New Zealand parliamentary electorate. It was first created for the and was abolished for two period, from 1875–1905 and again from 1946–1996. It was last created for the introduction of the MMP voting system for the . The current MP is Poto Williams, a member of the New Zealand Labour Party who was first elected in the 2013 Christchurch East by-election. Population centres The electorate is based on the eastern part of the City of Christchurch. When the electorate was first formed through the Representation Act 1870, the western boundary of the electorate was Colombo Street. The 2020 New Zealand general election held on Saturday, 17 October 2020 determined the membership of the 53rd New Zealand Parliament. It was previously scheduled for 19 September, before being delayed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Parliament has 120 seats, and 72 will be filled by electorate MPs, with the remaining 48 from ranked party lists. Parties were required to submit their party lists to the Electoral Commission by 17 September and the lists were publicly released on 19 September, though some parties published their lists earlier than that. Cushla Tangaere-Manuel is a New Zealand politician and Member of Parliament in the House of Representatives for the Labour Party. She represents the Ikaroa-Rāwhiti electorate and was first elected at the 2023 general election. Colin Meurk
Colin Meurk (born 1947) is a New Zealand ecologist. Education and academia Meurk attended high school at St Andrew's College, Christchurch, graduating in 1965. In 1969 he completed a Bachelor of Science at the University of Canterbury. Between 1970 and 1981 he completed a doctorate at the University of Otago, with his thesis analysing the production rate of plant biomass in tussock grassland at the southern end of the South Island. In his role as a research fellow at Manaaki Whenua – Landcare Research he assisted in creating landscape models for creating ecological restoration plans across large areas, as well as a project to restore the ecology of the Waipara wine-growing region.
