''Green Acres'' is an American television absurdist sitcom starring Eddie Albert and Eva Gabor as a couple who move from New York City to a country farm. Produced by Filmways as a sister show to ''Petticoat Junction'', the series was first broadcast on CBS, from September 15, 1965, to April 27, 1971. Although it received solid ratings during its six-year run, ''Green Acres'' was cancelled in 1971 as part of the " rural purge" by CBS. The sitcom has been in syndication and is available on DVD and VHS releases. A reunion movie aired in 1990. In 1997, the two-part episode "A Star Named Arnold Is Born" was ranked No. 59 on TV Guide's 100 Greatest Episodes of All-Time. Thomas William Lester (September 23, 1938 – April 20, 2020) was an American actor and evangelist. He was best known for his role as farmhand Eb Dawson on the television show ''Green Acres'' as well as crossover appearances on Petticoat Junction, which was set near ''Green Acres''' fictional town of Hooterville. John James Bannon (June 14, 1940 – October 25, 2017) was an American actor. He was best known for his role as Art Donovan on ''Lou Grant'', a role he played for the duration of the series, from 1977 to 1982. Phil Gordon (May 5, 1916 – June 15, 2010) was an American actor and dialect coach, most known for his work in television. Gordon's work included roles on ''The Beverly Hillbillies'' (playing Jasper "Jazzbo" Depew), ''Green Acres'', and ''Petticoat Junction''. Gordon was born Phil Gulley on May 5, 1916, in Meridian, Mississippi. His parents were Philomen and Lena Alexina Gulley. Jack Alvin "Alvy" Moore (December 5, 1921 – May 4, 1997) was an American actor best known for his role as scatterbrained county agricultural agent Hank Kimball on the CBS television series '' Green Acres''.
