''Retrograde'' is the third studio album by American metalcore band Crown the Empire. It was released on July 22, 2016, through Rise Records and was produced by Drew Fulk. The album debuted at number 15 on the ''Billboard'' 200. This is the first album the band released without lead guitarist Benn Suede, as well as the last album before co-lead vocalist Dave Escamilla left the band in January 2017. Rise Records is an American record label currently based in Beaverton, Oregon, mainly focusing on alternative rock, heavy metal, and punk rock music artists. History Rise was founded in 1991 by Craig Ericson in Nevada City, California. He released a small number of 7" records before putting the label on hiatus to attend college. Drew Fulk (born May 1, 1987), also known as WZRD BLD, is an American producer and songwriter based in Los Angeles, California. He has worked with artists such as Lil Wayne, Knocked Loose, Lil Peep, Disturbed, NLE Choppa, A Day To Remember, Motionless In White, CORPSE, and Kevin Gates and has over twenty #1 Billboard Rock Songs to his name. He also runs his own publishing company, In the Cut Publishing, through APG. ''Sudden Sky'' is the fourth studio album by American metalcore band Crown the Empire. It was released on July 19, 2019 through Rise Records and was produced by Drew Fulk. It is the band's first album not to feature vocalist Dave Escamilla since their EP '' Limitless'', who departed from the group in January 2017. It is also the last album to feature the band's drummer Brent Taddie before he left the band in January 2022. Background On June 27, 2019, Rise Records' YouTube channel released a video titled, "Crown The Empire - The Making of the 'Sudden Sky' Album Cover." Metalcore is a broadly defined fusion genre combining elements of extreme metal and hardcore punk, originating in the 1990s United States and becoming popular in the 2000s.
