''Resurgam'' is a solo studio album by American hip hop musician Alias. It was released on Anticon in 2008. It features guest appearances from Yoni Wolf and The One AM Radio. The title is Latin for "I shall rise again". Critical reception At Metacritic, which assigns a weighted average score out of 100 to reviews from mainstream critics, ''Resurgam'' received an average score of 79% based on 6 reviews, indicating "generally favorable reviews". David Jeffries of AllMusic gave the album 4 stars out of 5, saying: "Putting paranoia and noir to the side for the moment, Alias has created his most welcoming and positive dream world on ''Resurgam'', an album where the creaks comfort and the low cloud cover comes off as heavenly." Mia Lily Clarke of ''Pitchfork'' gave the album a 7.0 out of 10, saying: "While ''Resurgam'' is a record of many different moods, and unashamedly derivative of Alias' influences, it maintains a distinctive, concrete consistency." Alias (musician)
Brendon Whitney (April 5, 1976 – March 30, 2018), better known by his stage name Alias, was a producer and rapper from Hollis, Maine. He was a co-founder of the indie hip hop record label Anticon. History Alias originally performed as a rapper with Sole in the group Live Poets. He also produced his own songs, but would still rap over another producer's beats. He moved to California in 1999 to start the label Anticon, as well as to focus on his music. Later on, as Alias began working with Anticon, he produced tracks for the emcees on the label. In 2002, Alias released his first solo album '' The Other Side of the Looking Glass''. He produced and rapped on the album. After that, Alias moved away from rapping to focus solely on production. His production work also moved away from sampling and began to involve more synthesizers and instruments such as guitar. He released his first instrumental album '' Muted'' in 2003. ''Pitchfork'' (formerly ''Pitchfork Media'') is an American online music publication (currently owned by Condé Nast) that was launched in 1995 by writer Ryan Schreiber as an independent music blog. Schreiber started Pitchfork while working at a record store in suburban Minneapolis, and the website earned a reputation for its extensive coverage of indie rock music. It has since expanded and covers all kinds of music, including pop. Pitchfork was sold to Condé Nast in 2015, although Schreiber remained its editor-in-chief until he left the website in 2019. Hrishikesh Hirway (born February 1, 1979) is an American musician, producer, and podcast and television host. He has made four albums under the name The One AM Radio, and has a side project with Lakeith Stanfield called Moors. He is the creator and host of the podcasts '' Song Exploder, The West Wing Weekly'' (co-hosted with Joshua Malina), ''Home Cooking'' (co-hosted with Samin Nosrat), and ''Partners''. He is the host and executive producer of the Netflix television adaptation ''Song Exploder''. As a composer, Hirway scored the Netflix television show '' Everything Sucks!'' and the films ''Our Nixon'' and ''Save the Date''. Early life Hirway was born in Peabody, Massachusetts. The paper has won national journalism awards, and sponsored the SF Weekly Music Awards. History ''SF Weekly'' was founded locally in the late 1970s by Christopher Hildreth and Edward Bachman and originally named ''San Francisco Music Calendar, the Magazine or Poster Art''. The One AM Radio
The One AM Radio is a band consisting of Hrishikesh Hirway, a composer and songwriter from Los Angeles. The One AM Radio's sound is often characterized by Hirway's lush vocals over dream-like instrumental arrangements. He does most of his own recording, playing several of the instruments and producing all the beats; the style borders electronica, folk, post-rock, chamber music, and ambient music. Born in Massachusetts, Hirway began The One AM Radio while a student at Yale University, where he studied art and film. Jonathan Avram "Yoni" Wolf (born April 30, 1979) is an American alternative hip hop and indie rock musician and co-founder of the record label Anticon. From 1997 until 2004, Wolf released music under the stage name Why?. In 2004 he transferred that name onto his newly founded band. Thereafter he has been credited for his solo work as Yoni Wolf. Prior to the founding of the band Why? in 2004, Wolf had also been a member of numerous other groups, including Greenthink, Object Beings, Clouddead, Reaching Quiet and Hymie's Basement.
