''Respirology'' is a peer-reviewed medical journal published by Wiley (publisher), Wiley on behalf of the Asian Pacific Society of Respirology. The word ''respirology'' is derived from the Latin root respirare, "to breathe" and the Greek root logos, "knowledge". The journal covers Pulmonology, clinical respiratory biology and disease, including epidemiology, Intensive care medicine, intensive and critical care medicine, pathology, physiology, thoracic surgery, and general medicine, as it relates to respiratory biology and disease. In 2020, Respirology was included in an expression of concern from Web of Science Journal Citation Reports for excessive self-citation. The National Center for Biotechnology Information (NCBI) is part of the National Library of Medicine (NLM), a branch of the National Institutes of Health (NIH). It is approved and funded by the government of the United States. The NCBI is located in Bethesda, Maryland, and was founded in 1988 through legislation sponsored by US Congressman Claude Pepper. The NCBI houses a series of databases relevant to biotechnology and biomedicine and is an important resource for bioinformatics tools and services. ''Current Contents'' is a rapid alerting service database from Clarivate, formerly the Institute for Scientific Information and Thomson Reuters. It is published online and in several different printed subject sections. History ''Current Contents'' was first published in paper format, in a single edition devoted only to biology and medicine. Other subject editions were added later. Initially, it consisted simply of a reproduction of the title pages from several hundred major peer-reviewed scientific journals, and was published weekly, with the issues containing title pages from journal issues only a few weeks previously, a shorter time lag than any service then available.
