Resorts Casino Tunica, formerly Southern Belle Casino and Harrah's Tunica Mardi Gras Casino, was a 201-room hotel and a casino located in Tunica Resorts, Mississippi. It was one of three casinos located in the "Casino Strip" area, along with Sam's Town and Hollywood Casino. Resorts was owned by Gaming & Leisure Properties and operated by Penn National Gaming. The resort closed in June 2019 due to declining revenue. History Southern Belle Casino (1994–1995) The casino was developed by Belle Casinos, a company that owned the Biloxi Belle casino on the Mississippi Gulf Coast and was owned primarily by restaurateur Jim Hasslocher. Harrah's Casino Tunica, formerly Grand Casino Tunica, was a casino and resort located in Tunica Resorts, Mississippi. It was owned and operated by Caesars Entertainment. The casino offered a casino and three hotels with a total of 1,356 rooms. There was also an RV park, the Bellissimo Spa & Salon, a convention center, The Willows sporting clays shotgun club, and a 2,500 seat entertainment venue called the Harrah's Event Center. Citing steadily declining business rates in its last few years, Caesars announced the closure of Harrah's Casino Tunica, along with its hotels, golf course, and events center in March 2014. The casino has of gaming space, with 899 slot machines and 16 table games. History Bally's Saloon & Gambling Hall was originally opened on December 6, 1993, at Mhoon Landing by Bally Manufacturing. In 1994, Lady Luck Gaming opened its Olympia Hotel in Robinsonville, an area 10 miles north of Mhoon Landing which had emerged as a prime casino site because of its closer proximity to Memphis. Lady Luck began construction of a casino to accompany the hotel, but suspended it later that year because of financial difficulties. The Tunica Roadhouse Hotel was a hotel and spa located in Tunica Resorts, Mississippi. Until the casino portion of the property closed in January 2019, it was one of three casinos located in Casino Center, along with its sister property Horseshoe Casino Tunica and MGM Mirage's Gold Strike Tunica. The casino featured 36 table games and more than 1,300 video poker and slot machines located on two floors. The casino (as well as the adjacent hotel, which Is now permanently closed) was themed to resemble a roadhouse, and was marketed as a place to "get wild", housing many features unique to Tunica casinos, such as a mechanical bull, as well as beer pong and other "bar games".
