Resonator is Kathryn Williams 13th studio album and a collaboration with jazz musician and vibraphone player, Anthony Kerr. The album is a set of jazz standards that the pair worked on over a six-year period The album has received mixed reviews with '' Musikexpress'' claimed the album 'liberates oft-heard standards from the corset of arbitrariness' with ''Intro'' adding 'Only an muted jazz trumpet and a distant double bass enrich the charged silence which often ends in unexpected slowness'. Williams asserted on The Afterword podcast that 'I don't mind the different reactions that the album has got because it makes me feel like I'm doing something right.' Kathryn Williams
Kathryn Williams (born 15 February 1974, Liverpool, England) is an English singer-songwriter who to date has released 14 studio albums, written and arranged for a multitude of artists, and was nominated for the 2000 Mercury Music Prize. Williams released her first album, '' Dog Leap Stairs'', on her own Caw Records label in 1999 with a budget of £80. The follow-up, '' Little Black Numbers'', garnered a Mercury Prize nomination in 2000, bringing her to the attention of a wider public. Williams has collaborated and recorded with artists including Chris Difford, Ted Barnes, Thea Gilmore, John Martyn, Joel Salakula, Tobias Froberg, Ed Harcourt, James Yorkston, Marry Waterson, Boo Hewerdine, and Paul Smith. Anthony Kerr
Anthony Kerr is a British jazz vibraphone player, who has performed and recorded internationally with Georgie Fame, Charlie Watts, BBC Big Band, Robbie Williams, Joe Lovano, Jacqui Dankworth, and Courtney Pine. His compositions have been broadcast on BBC Radio. He teaches vibraphone and jazz improvisation at the Royal College of Music in London and produces and records music from his home studio in Hertfordshire. Biography He was born in Belfast, Northern Ireland on 16 October 1965. From 1981 till 1984 he received his education at the Belfast School of Music.
