René Guilbaud
René Guilbaud (8 October 1890 – disappeared 18 June 1928) was an early 20th-century French military aviator. Long-distance flights Guilbaud was celebrated mainly for long-range flights, by flying boat across Africa in 1926 and 1927, first in a Lioré et Olivier LeO H-190 and then in a CAMS 37. Disappearance Guilbaud disappeared in the Barents Sea in June 1928, while piloting a Latham 47 flying boat in which Roald Amundsen was travelling to join the search for survivors of the crash of the airship Airship Italia, ''Italia''. While debris from his aircraft was subsequently located by late August, List of aerial disappearances, no trace has ever been found of the occupants. Legacy The mountain Guilbaudtoppen in Sørkapp Land, Spitsbergen (Svalbard), is named after him. Mouchamps
Mouchamps () is a Communes of France, commune in the Vendée Departments of France, department in the Pays de la Loire Regions of France, region in western France. The grave of the noted French prime minister, Georges Clemenceau, is located near Mouchamps at the small hamlet of Le Colombier. It may be reached by following the D28 road from the center of Mouchamps northeastward approximately two and one-half miles to a road on the right signposted as "La Brachetiere", "La Monceliere", and "Colombier". Very shortly after that initial right turn, the route takes a further right turn at the sign marked "Tombeau de Clemenceau". A separate sign says "Colombier", and the route continues on that road for approximately one and one-half miles. Svalbard
Svalbard ( , ), previously known as Spitsbergen or Spitzbergen, is a Norway, Norwegian archipelago that lies at the convergence of the Arctic Ocean with the Atlantic Ocean. North of continental Europe, mainland Europe, it lies about midway between the northern coast of Norway and the North Pole. The islands of the group range from 74th parallel north, 74° to 81st parallel north, 81° north latitude, and from 10th meridian east, 10° to 35th meridian east, 35° east longitude. Spitsbergen
