René Fontaine
Jacques Noe René Fontaine (November 5, 1933 – March 17, 2012) was a politician in Ontario, Canada. He was a Liberal member of the Legislative Assembly of Ontario from 1985 to 1990, and was a cabinet minister in the government of David Peterson. Background Fontaine was educated at the University of Ottawa. He was vice-president of a sawmill in Hearst. In 1977, he declared it a "bilingual municipality". Fontaine also served as president of Maison Renaissance and Arc en Ciel in Hearst. Politics He served as a municipal councillor in the northern town of Hearst from 1963 to 1966, and was the town's mayor from 1967 to 1980. Len Wood
Leonard Wood (born February 4, 1942) is a former Canadian politician. He was a member of the Legislative Assembly of Ontario from 1990 to 1999, sitting for the New Democratic Party of Ontario. Leo Edward Bernier (August 12, 1928 – June 28, 2010) was a politician in Ontario, Canada. He served in the Legislative Assembly of Ontario from 1966 to 1987, and was a cabinet minister in the governments of Bill Davis and Frank Miller. Hearst (René Fontaine) Municipal Airport (Aéroport municipale de Hearst Municipal Airport) is located northwest of Hearst, Ontario, Canada. It is named after former mayor and provincial cabinet member René Fontaine. The airport is owned by the Town of Hearst and day-to-day operations managed by Commercial Aviation since the 1980s. 1990 Ontario General Election
The 1990 Ontario general election was held on September 6, 1990, to elect members of the 35th Legislative Assembly of Ontario, 35th Legislative Assembly of the province of Ontario, Canada. The governing Ontario Liberal Party led by Premier David Peterson was unexpectedly defeated. Although the Peterson government, and Peterson himself, were very popular, he was accused of opportunism in calling an election just three years into his mandate. In a shocking upset, the Ontario New Democratic Party, New Democratic Party (NDP), led by Bob Rae, won a majority government. The 1987 Ontario general election was held on September 10, 1987, to elect members of the 34th Legislative Assembly of Ontario. The governing Ontario Liberal Party, led by Premier David Peterson, was returned to power with their first majority government in half a century, and the second-largest majority government in the province's history.
