Renzo Calegari
Renzo Calegari (5 September 1933 – 5 November 2017) was an Italian comics artist. Life and career Born in Genoa, Calegari left his studies in accountancy to enter the art studios of Roy d'Ami. He made his professional debut one year later, collaborating with Gian Luigi Bonelli in the series ''El Kid'', ''I Tre Bill'', and in 1955 ''Davy Crockett''. In 1957 he began a fruitful collaboration with Fleetway Publications, in which he specialized in drawing war comics. In 1967 he co-created with Gino D'Antonio his best known work, the long-lasting comic book series ''Storia del West'', which ran until 1980, and for which he illustrated numerous stories. After several years of hiatus, he reprised his activities in the second half of the 1970s, collaborating with the magazines '' Skorpio'', '' Il Giornalino'', ''Orient Express'' and ''Zodiaco''. Gian Luigi Bonelli
Giovanni Luigi Bonelli (22 December 1908 – 12 January 2001) was an Italian comics, Italian comic book author and publisher, best remembered as the co-creator of ''Tex Willer'' in 1948, together with artist Aurelio Galleppini. Career Bonelli was born in Milan. He founded Sergio Bonelli Editore, Casa Audace Editrice, later to be known as Sergio Bonelli Editore, in 1940. In 1948 he created ''Occhio Cupo'' and ''Tex Willer'' (both drawn by Galleppini). ''Tex Willer'' is among the most popular characters of Italian comics, with translations to numerous languages all around the world. He wrote several early episodes of ''Zagor (comics), Zagor'' (issues #6–10, 13–14). Bonelli remained to supervise the production of Tex until his death in Alessandria. Fleetway Publications
Fleetway Publications was a magazine publishing company based in London. It was founded in 1959 when the Mirror Group acquired the Amalgamated Press, then based at Fleetway House, Farringdon Street, London. It was one of the companies that merged into the IPC group in 1963, and the Fleetway banner continued to be used until 1968 when all IPC's publications were reorganised into the unitary IPC Magazines. In 1987 IPC's comics line was sold to Robert Maxwell as Fleetway Publications. Egmont UK bought Fleetway from Maxwell in 1991, merging it with their own comics publishing operation, London Editions, to form Fleetway Editions, but the name "Fleetway" ceased to appear on their comics some time after 2002. ''Skorpio'' is a weekly anthology comic magazine published in Argentina since 1974 to 1996 and in Italy since 1977 onwards. History and profile ''Skorpio'' was created in July 1974 by Ediciones Record, with Alfredo Scutti serving as editorial director and Juan Zanotto as artistic supervisor. It is named after a character created by writer Eugenio Zappietro (under the pen name Ray Collins) and artist Ernesto R. Garcia Seijas. Galerie Lambiek is a Dutch comic book store and art gallery in Amsterdam, founded on November 8, 1968 by Kees Kousemaker (, – Bussum, ), though since 2007, his son Boris Kousemaker is the current owner. From 1968 to 2015, it was located in the Kerkstraat, but in November 2015, the store moved to the Koningsstraat 27. As of 2018, Lambiek is the oldest comics store in Europe, and the oldest worldwide still in existence. The name "Lambiek" originated as a misspelling of the name of the comics character Lambik, from the popular Suske & Wiske comic book series created by Belgian artist Willy Vandersteen.
