Rentoy
Rentoy is a 16th century Spanish and Mexican card game for two players or teams that involved signalling. It is mentioned in works by Cervantes. History Rentoy is first mentioned by Cervantes (1547–1616) in '' The Illustrious Kitchen Maid'' along with a game called Presa y Pinta (possibly Lansquenet) and appears to have been a popular 16th and 17th century Spanish card game.Ife & Thacker (2013), p. 694. It was still popular enough in the early 19th century to appear in an autobiography by Periquillo Sarniento in 1816. It was the most popular game among Mexican soldiers in pulquieras (bars) and barracks. It required "careful and discrete communication by gesture or mutter between the partners, which all expected but ran contrary to the rules." Miguel de Cervantes Saavedra (; 29 September 1547 (assumed) – 22 April 1616 NS) was an Early Modern Spanish writer widely regarded as the greatest writer in the Spanish language and one of the world's pre-eminent novelists. He is best known for his novel ''Don Quixote'', a work often cited as both the first modern novel and one of the pinnacles of world literature. Much of his life was spent in poverty and obscurity, which led to many of his early works being lost. Despite this, his influence and literary contribution are reflected by the fact that Spanish is often referred to as "the language of Cervantes". In 1569, Cervantes was forced to leave Spain and move to Rome, where he worked in the household of a cardinal. In 1570, he enlisted in a Spanish Navy infantry regiment, and was badly wounded at the Battle of Lepanto in October 1571. ''La ilustre fregona'' (''The Illustrious Kitchen Maid'' or ''The Illustrious Scullery-maid'') is a novella by Miguel de Cervantes, published in the collection ''Novelas ejemplares''. It tells the story of two wealthy young men who fall in love with a kitchen maid in Toledo, Spain, Toledo. The story contains mistaken identities, ironic comments and genre traits of the picaresque novel and pastoral romance. Lansquenet
Lansquenet is a banking game played with cards, named after the French spelling of the German word Landsknecht ('servant of the land or country'), which refers to 15th- and 16th-century German mercenary foot soldiers; the lansquenet drum is a type of field drum used by these soldiers. It is recorded as early as 1534 by François Rabelais in ''Gargantua and Pantagruel''. Cards Lansquenet is played with an Italian pack of 40 cards. Game play The dealer or banker stakes a certain sum, and this must be met by the nearest to the dealer first, and so on. When the stake is met, the dealer turns up one card and lays it to his right, for the table or the players, and another card in front of himself for the bank. Jocotitlán
Jocotitlán is a municipality located in the northwestern part of the State of Mexico on the central highlands of the country of Mexico. The municipal seat is the town of Jocotitlán and is located at the foot of the Jocotitlán or Xocotépetl volcano, while most of the rest of the municipality is in the Ixtlahuaca Valley. The area has culturally been Mazahua since the pre-Hispanic period, with this indigenous group's traditions strongest in a number of smaller communities in the municipality. Jocotitlán is also home to the Pasteje Industrial Park, which was established in the 1960s, and began the industrialization of the economy.
