Renfrew Ramblers F.C.
Renfrew Ramblers Football Club was a Scottish football team located in the town of Renfrew. History The club was founded in 1875, the same year as Renfrew F.C.; indeed the first recorded match for the Ramblers was against Renfrew in March 1876. Its first full season was successful, with 12 wins and only 3 defeats in 24 matches. The club had a disadvantage to the Renfrew club as it did not have its own ground, playing instead at a public park. As a result, the Scottish Football Association rejected the Ramblers' application for membership in 1877 because of its lack of private facilities. The club therefore joined the West of Scotland Football Association, set up with other similarly rejected clubs, and entered the West of Scotland Cup for 1877–78. However the Ramblers scratched before playing a tie. Yoker F
Yoker ( gd, An Eochair) is an area of Glasgow, Scotland, on the northern bank of the Clyde east of Clydebank, west of the city centre. From the fourteenth century, the Renfrew Ferry has linked Yoker with Renfrew on the south bank. Although shipbuilding has declined, the nearby Yarrows shipyard, now owned by BAE Systems, is still in operation. The name is an Anglicisation of the Scottish Gaelic ''Eochair'' meaning a river bank. Motor vehicles and tramcars were also manufactured in Yoker, which is now an operations centre for the North Clyde Line, part of Glasgow's suburban rail network. The Scottish Junior Football Association (SJFA) is an affiliated national association of the Scottish Football Association and is the governing body for the junior grade of football (soccer), football in Scotland. The term "junior" refers to the level of football played, not the age of the players. The 1880–81 Scottish Cup – officially the Scottish Football Association Challenge Cup – was the eighth season of Scotland's most prestigious football knockout competition. Defending champions Queen's Park retained the cup and won the competition for the fifth time after they beat Dumbarton 3–1 in a replayed final which saw Dr John Smith score the first Scottish Cup final hat-trick on 9 April 1881. Calendar As with the previous competitions, the eighth edition of the Scottish Cup took on the format of a traditional knockout tournament. For the earlier rounds, the names of competing teams were placed into lots according to their districts and drawn into pairs.
