Renfrew Football Club are a Scottish football club based in the town of Renfrew. Formed on 6 May 1912, they play in the . The ''Frew'' wear a home shirt of blue and white stripes Current squad History Renfrew formed in 1912 after the previous Junior club in the town, Renfrew Victoria, went defunct in 1910; they also played at Western Park. A "senior" club based in Renfrew had also operated in the 19th century, and competed in the early years of the Scottish Cup. The early years of the club saw the semi-finals of the national competition, the Scottish Junior Cup, reached several times – in 1914, 1918, 1933, 1936, 1947 and more recently 1978. The final has been reached three times, in 1917, 1962 and 2001. The first occasion saw no goals conceded on the way to the final, and it was only by a single goal that the final itself was lost, and this after a replay. Renfrew
Renfrew (; ; ) is a town west of Glasgow in the west central Lowlands of Scotland. It is the historic county town of Renfrewshire. Called the "Cradle of the Royal Stewarts" for its early link with Scotland's former royal house, Renfrew gained royal burgh status in 1397. As the county town, Renfrew once was a centre of local government for the surrounding area. Whilst the county remained known as "Renfrewshire", the focus of local government gradually shifted from Renfrew to its larger neighbour Paisley. Scottish Junior Football Association, West Region
The Scottish Junior Football Association, West Region was one of three regions of the SJFA which organised its own distinct league and cup competitions. The SJFA used to be split into six regions, but in 2002 they decided to reform into three (East, North and West) to try to ensure more games between the top clubs and hence increase their revenues. The region covered an area from Girvan in South Ayrshire to Denny in Central Scotland. In 2020, the region was abolished, as all 63 clubs in the region decided to depart and join the newly-founded West of Scotland Football League.
