''Renato'' is the fifth studio album by Italian singer Mina released in December 1962 through . Overview The record is a collection of songs released by Mina mainly in 1962 (with the exception of "Sabato notte" and "Un tale"—they are from 1961). The only new song on the album is "Chopin cha cha". Notably, the album did not include the single "Il disco rotto", released in October 1962, although its B-side "Si lo so" was included on 1963 album '' Stessa spiaggia, stesso mare''. "Sabato notte" was the theme song for the TV show '' Studio Uno'', while "Stringimi forte i polsi" was the theme song for the TV show ''Canzonissima''. Giorgio Calabrese
Giorgio Calabrese (28 November 1929 – 31 March 2016) was an Italian songwriter and frequent collaborator with French Popular music, pop music star Charles Aznavour. Calabrese wrote the original Italian lyrics for the popular song "Softly, as I Leave You (song), Softly, as I Leave You", and the Italian version of Aznavour's famous song, "She (Charles Aznavour song), She", titled "Lei". He also wrote the Italian lyrics for the song, "E se domani", composed by Carlo Alberto Rossi and recorded by Mina (Italian singer), Mina. Dino Verde (13 July 1922 – 1 February 2004) was an Italian author, lyricist, playwright and screenwriter. Life and career Born Edoardo Verde in Naples, in 1943 he started working in the satirical magazine '' Marc'Aurelio''. Since the late 1940s Verde wrote revues and comedy plays for the most popular comedians of the time, including Macario, Nino Taranto, Aldo Fabrizi, Mario Riva and Riccardo Billi, Carlo Dapporto. In 1949 he started collaborating with EIAR, where he specialized in writing sketches and parody songs. Bruno Canfora
Bruno Canfora (; 6 November 1924 – 4 August 2017) was an Italian composer, conductor, and music arranger. Life and career Born in Milan, Canfora studied piano at an early age, then studied oboe at the Giuseppe Verdi Conservatory in Milan. During the Second World War, he played several concerts with his group in Trieste. After the war, he moved to Turin and became conductor of the Castellino Danze Orchestra. Besides having composed scores for television programs and films, Canfora is known for his work in pop music, particularly for his collaboration with Mina, for whom he composed songs like "Brava", "Un bacio è troppo poco", " Mi sei scoppiato dentro il cuore", "Sono come tu mi vuoi" and " Vorrei che fosse amore" (the latter two were also translated into other languages like Spanish, the latter also in French). Fiorenzo Carpi (19 October 1918 – 21 May 1997) was an Italian composer and pianist, probably best known for the "Pinocchio" theme. Biography Born in Milan as Fiorenzo Carpi De Resmini, in 1945 he graduated at the Milan Conservatory, pupil of Arrigo Pedrollo and Giorgio Federico Ghedini; then he was a stable member of Piccolo Teatro di Milano since its founding (1947). He also collaborated with the Nobel laureate playwright Dario Fo on all his plays between 1953 and 1967, then sporadically until Carpi's death in 1997. Fo's 1997 play ''Il diavolo con le zinne'' ('' The Devil with Boobs'') featured an homage to Carpi following his death. Carpi was a prolific film score composer, well known for his long collaboration with the director Luigi Comencini. Leo Matteo Chiosso (; 8 August 1920 – 26 November 2006) was an Italian lyricist mostly known for his work with Fred Buscaglione. They formed a songwriting duo who produced about forty songs and created Buscaglione's public persona, a humorous tough guy with a penchant for whisky and women. Career Chiosso and Buscaglione met in 1938 in the night-club scene of Turin, hometown to both of them. At that time, Chiosso was a university student, while Buscaglione made a living as a jazz singer and musician in the clubs. During World War II, Chiosso was deported to Poland, while Buscaglione ended up in a US internment camp in Sardinia. Chiosso received news of his friend's fate thanks to the radio; Buscaglione had joined the allied radio station orchestra in Cagliari, and Chiosso knew he was still alive when he heard him playing. Giovanni Fusco (10 October 1906, Sant'Agata dei Goti, Benevento – 31 May 1968, Rome) was an Italian composer, pianist and conductor, who has written numerous film scores since 1936, including those of Alain Resnais's '' Hiroshima mon amour'' (1959) and '' La guerre est finie'' (1966), as well as those of most of the 1948-1964 films directed by Michelangelo Antonioni, from '' N.U.'' (''Nettezza Urbana'') to '' Il deserto rosso'', except for '' La notte'' (soundtrack by Giorgio Gaslini) and some of his early short films. Two of his soundtracks, those of Antonioni's '' Cronaca di un amore'' and ''L'avventura'', won Silver Ribbon for the best film score from Italian National Syndicate of Film Journalists in 1951 and 1961, respectively. Gianni Ferrio (16 November 1924 – 21 October 2013) was an Italian composer, conductor and music arranger. Life and career Born in Vicenza, Ferrio studied at the conservatories of Conservatory of Vicenza, Vicenza and Conservatorio di Musica Benedetto Marcello di Venezia, Venice. Starting in the late 1950s, he was active as a composer of film scores. He composed some 120 soundtracks, mostly for Spaghetti Westerns and commedie sexy all'italiana films. His piece "One Silver Dollar", the main theme to Giorgio Ferroni's ''Blood for a Silver Dollar'' (1965), was later included in the soundtrack of Quentin Tarantino's ''Inglourious Basterds''.
