Remscheid-Lennep Station
Remscheid-Lennep station is in the city of Remscheid in the German state of North Rhine-Westphalia. It is the second most important station in the city after Remscheid Hauptbahnhof. The station is located west of the old centre of Lennep and is classified by Deutsche Bahn as a category 5 station. History On 1 September 1868, the Bergisch-Märkische Railway Company () opened the first section of the Rittershausen–Opladen line from Oberbarmen (then called Rittershausen) to Lennep. A committee of dignitaries from Barmen and the district of Lennep was established in 1844 to promote a rail link between the district of Lennep—which was a significant centre of industry (including the production of iron and steel goods and cloth)—and Cologne. Remscheid () is a city in North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany. It is, after Wuppertal and Solingen, the third-largest municipality in Bergisches Land, being located on the northern edge of the region, on the south side of the Ruhr area. Remscheid had around 109,000 inhabitants in 2015. At the end of 2019 it had 113,703 inhabitants. Dhünn (Wupper)
Dhünn is a -long river located in North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany. Its main source is near Wipperfürth in the Bergisches Land area. It runs in a south-westerly direction, and its mouth into the river Wupper is near Leverkusen, appr. north of Cologne. Renaturation By diverting the river bed of the Dhünn around the 'Sensenhammer' weir in April 2010, it was declared the first 'barrier-free river' in North Rhine-Westphalia. This means that the -long stretch of the river from the mouth into the Wupper to the 'Großen Dhünn' dam is accessible without obstacles for fish and microbes. Fish can now migrate again freely to their spawning grounds. Wupper Valley Railway
The Wupper () is a right tributary of the Rhine in the state of North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany. Rising near Marienheide in western Sauerland it runs through the mountainous region of the Bergisches Land in Berg County and enters the Rhine at Leverkusen, south of Düsseldorf. Its upper course is called the Wipper. Both names are related to "weave", and refer to the twisting course. On its course of about , the Wupper passes through the city of Wuppertal where the suspension railway runs for above the river. It is crossed by the highest railway bridge in Germany near Müngsten, between Remscheid and Solingen. A few kilometers further down, Burg Castle is located on a hill overlooking the river.
