Reinhard Saftig
Reinhard Saftig (born 23 January 1952) is a German retired football player and manager. Saftig has served as head coach of Bayern Munich, Borussia Dortmund, Hannover 96, VfL Bochum, and Bayer Leverkusen in the German Bundesliga. Career Saftig was born in Uersfeld. He began his head coaching career as the short-term manager of Bayern Munich, as a replacement for Pal Csernai. Saftig was in this role for 45 days only (17 May to 30 June 1983). He then took over in Borussia Dortmund in the latter half of the 1985–86 season and secured Borussia's stay in the top flight in three intense relegation play-offs against 2. Bundesliga side Fortuna Köln. The following season was much stronger and resulted in Borussia Dortmund qualifying for the UEFA Cup after finishing 4th. Uersfeld
Uersfeld is an ''Ortsgemeinde'' – a municipality belonging to a ''Verbandsgemeinde'', a kind of collective municipality – in the Vulkaneifel district in Rhineland-Palatinate, Germany. It belongs to the ''Verbandsgemeinde'' of Kelberg, whose seat is in the like-named municipality. Geography Location The municipality lies in the Vulkaneifel, a part of the Eifel known for its volcanic history, geographical and geological features, and even ongoing activity today, including gases that sometimes well up from the earth. Geology Like the rest of what is now the Eifel, the place that is now Uersfeld was underwater about 400,000,000 years ago, at the bottom of a Devonian sea. Maurice Banach
Maurice "Mucki" Banach (9 October 1967 – 17 November 1991) was a German professional footballer who played as a forward. Career Born in Münster, Banach was the son of a German seaman and an American GI. During his youth career he played for SC Preußen Münster, but he later transferred to the youth team of Borussia Dortmund, until, at seventeen, he signed his first professional contract. Until 1988 he played 14 games for Borussia, scoring two goals. In the summer of 1988, Banach transferred to the second tier team SG Wattenscheid 09. In 1990, he was the highest scorer in the league – with 22 goals. This attracted attention from 1. FC Köln, to whom he moved in the summer of 1990, playing until the end of 1991. His last two of overall 26 Bundesliga goals came in a 4–1 victory against Fortuna Düsseldorf on 9 November 1991.
