Reiner Braun
Reiner Braun (born 22 December 1952 in Braunschweig) is a German journalist, historian and peace activist. He is executive director of the International Peace Bureau (IPB). From 2013 to 2019 he served as President of the IPB. Activism Braun has been involved in the peace movement since 1982. Confronted with the growing danger of nuclear threats he started his activism against nuclear weapons from a young age. He work for the Krefeld Appeal against nuclear weapons. He is a founding member of the International Network of Engineers and Scientists for Global Responsibility (INES) and from 2006 until 2017 he was executive director of the German section of the International Association of Lawyers against Nuclear Arms (IALANA). Peace Activist
A peace movement is a social movement which seeks to achieve ideals, such as the ending of a particular war (or wars) or minimizing inter-human violence in a particular place or situation. They are often linked to the goal of achieving world peace. Some of the methods used to achieve these goals include advocacy of pacifism, nonviolent resistance, diplomacy, boycotts, peace camps, ethical consumerism, supporting anti-war political candidates, supporting legislation to remove profits from government contracts to the military–industrial complex, banning guns, creating tools for open government and transparency, direct democracy, supporting whistleblowers who expose war crimes or conspiracies to create wars, demonstrations, and political lobbying. The political cooperative is an example of an organization which seeks to merge all peace-movement and green organizations; they may have diverse goals, but have the common ideal of peace and humane sustainability. International Peace Bureau
The International Peace Bureau (IPB) (french: Bureau international de la paix), founded in 1891, is one of the world's oldest international peace federations. The organisation was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize in 1910 for acting "as a link between the peace societies of the various countries". In 1913 Henri La Fontaine was also awarded the Prize "or his work ashead of the International Peace Bureau". , eleven other Nobel Peace Prize laureates have been members of the IPB. Its membership consists of 300 organizations in 70 countries. IPB's headquarters are located in Berlin, Germany, with offices in Barcelona, Spain, and Geneva, Switzerland. Prior to 2017, the headquarters were in Geneva. International Association Of Lawyers Against Nuclear Arms
The International Association of Lawyers against Nuclear Arms (IALANA) is an international non-governmental organisation headquartered in Berlin. It was founded in 1988 and seeks "to build and strengthen international legal efforts to ban the use and threat of use of nuclear weapons." Its membership consists of individual lawyers and lawyer's organisations. The current co-presidents of the organisation are Peter Beckeand Takeya Sasaki. The German section of the organisation was co-founded by former German Minister of Justice Herta Däubler-Gmelin. IALANA had a central role in the process that sought an advisory ruling on the legality of nuclear arms from the International Court of Justice.Sarah J.
