Rein Raamat
Rein Raamat (born 20 March 1931) is an Estonian animation film director, artist and screenwriter. He is the first internationally successful Estonian animator and along with Elbert Tuganov is regarded as the "Father of Estonian Animation". He has directed many short animated films since the early 1970s and also produced over 20 documentary films. Biography Raamat was born in Türi, Järva County and graduated from the Estonian Art Institute in 1957 as a painter and between 1957–1971 worked as an artist and director in feature films based in Tallinn. In 1971, he founded his own animation studio, Joonisfilm, a division of the Tallinnfilm studio, and commenced making his own films. From 1989–1995 he was artistic director of Studio B which he established, employing some 120 people. One of his notable films is "Põrgu" (''Hell''), released in 1983, that he based on the art of fellow Estonian Eduard Wiiralt from the 1930s. Suur Tõll (film)
( en, Tyll the Giant) is a Soviet-era Estonian animated movie created by Tallinnfilm in 1980. The film was directed by Rein Raamat, and the main artist was Jüri Arrak. When it was first made, it was highly praised by other Soviet animation directors, while censors critiqued the movie for containing Estonian national elements and excessive violence. It had a short run within the country, but continued to be sent to international film festivals afterwards. Story The film tells the story of an Estonian mythical god, Suur Tõll (Toell the Great), a giant said to have lived on the Baltic island of Saaremaa. Elbert Tuganov
Elbert Tuganov (22 February 1922 – 22 March 2007) was an Estonian animator and film director. He is known as "the father of Estonian animation". Life Tuganov was born in Baku, Azerbaijan to an Estonian mother and an Ossetian father. In 1946 he joined with Tallinnfilm Tallinnfilm is the oldest surviving film studio in Estonia. It was founded as Estonian Culture Film in 1931, and was nationalized in 1940 after Estonia was forced into the Soviet Union. During the first year of Soviet Occupation (1940–1941) ' .... Martti Soosaar
Martti Soosaar (11 June 1933 – 18 April 2017) was an Estonian journalist and writer. The son of photographer Hans Soosaar, Soosaar graduated from the University of Tartu in journalism. He worked as a newspaper editor for ''Noorte Hääl''. He featured in the Estonian Radio television sitcom "Õhtujutud" ('''Evening Stories''') which consisted of interviews with the artists. Martti Soosaar has also written for ''Kymen Sanomat'', a major Finnish broadsheet newspaper.
