John H. Reif (born 1951) is an American academic, and Professor of Computer Science at Duke University, who has made contributions to large number of fields in computer science: ranging from algorithms and computational complexity theory to robotics and to game theory. Biography John Reif received a B.S. (magna cum laude) from Tufts University in 1973, a M.S. from Harvard University in 1975 and a Ph.D. from Harvard University in 1977. From 1983 to 1986 he was Associate Professor of Harvard University, and since 1986 he has been Professor of Computer Science at Duke University. Frederick Reif
Frederick Reif (April 24, 1927 – August 11, 2019) was an American physicist. He was an emeritus professor in physics and psychology at Carnegie Mellon University. Biography Reif was born in Vienna, Austria on April 24, 1927, to Gerschon and Klara Reif and grew up near the Prater. His father committed suicide after he was forced to close his practice and was not permitted to work. His family left Austria for Cuba after the Kristallnacht on the MS St. Louis and was forced to return to Europe, where his mother, his sister, and himself disembarked in France, living as refugees under German occupation in Loudun before relocating to Limoges. In September 1941, his family secured a visa to the United States and emigrated to New York City by way of Spain and Portugal. Patricia (Pat) Reif, also known as Sister Richard, (May 6, 1930 – March 24, 2002), was an American professor of philosophy and theology, known locally and nationally for her involvement in ecumenical issues, for her innovative leadership in the field of feminist spirituality and for her leadership in the Women's Ordination Conference. She was a founding member and leader of the ecumenical Immaculate Heart of Mary Community established in 1970 in Los Angeles as a result of irreconcilable differences between Cardinal James F. McIntyre over the implementation of Vatican II reforms. Along with the 455 vowed members of the canonical order of the Immaculate Heart of Mary, Reif was a leader in the development of the new community's innovative philosophical foundations. Chris Reif is a retired American soccer who played professionally in the Major Indoor Soccer League and American Professional Soccer League. Reif graduated from Calvert Hall High School. He attended the University of Connecticut, playing on the men's soccer team from 1984 to 1987. He was team captain his senior season as he earned Third Team All American honors. In 1988, the Cleveland Force selected Reif in the fourth round of the Major Indoor Soccer League draft but folded a few weeks later. Reif turned professional in 1988 with the Maryland Bays of the American Soccer League. He played with the Bays through the 1991 season. Marcel Reif (born 27 November 1949) is a Swiss television sport journalist and commentator Biography Reif was born in Wałbrzych, Silesia (formerly Waldenburg), four years after the area was transferred to Poland from Germany following World War II. In 1956 his family moved to Tel Aviv; his father was a Polish Jew, while his mother was a German Catholic. Reif only learned to speak German at the age of eight, after his family moved again to Kaiserslautern. Reif has been working for many years in German television as a journalist for sport programs on German broadcasters RTL and ZDF. After leaving RTL in 1999, he joined Sky Deutschland, which at that time was called "Premiere". Reif has been the head of the commentator staff for many years. Spivet'', for which '' Vanity Fair'' claimed Larsen received just under a million dollars as an advance from Penguin Press following a bidding war between ten publishing houses.
