Reidar Jørgensen
Reidar Jørgensen (5 October 1904 – 22 September 1985) was a Norwegian middle-distance runner, cross-country skier, botanist and educator. Sports career He was born in Lillehammer. He competed in the 1500 metres at the 1928 Summer Olympics in Amsterdam, where he was knocked out in the first round. He was Norwegian champion several times in 800 metres, 1500 metres and 5000 metres. He took the 800 metres title in 1927 before Hjalmar Johannessen's dominance in the event started; and also the bronze medal in 1928 behind Johannessen and Olaf Strand. In the 1500 he won three straight titles in 1927, 1928 and 1929. A 5000 gold, his only national medal in the event, was added in 1931. He represented Lillehammer IF. After that he moved to Trondheim, changed clubs to SK Freidig and took a final national title in the 1500 metres in 1933. Reidar Särestöniemi
Reidar Särestöniemi (14 May 1925, Kittilä – 27 May 1981, Kittilä) was a Finnish painter from Finnish Lapland. He is considered one of the greatest Finland-Lappish artists in the entire history of Finland. Särestöniemi was born as the youngest child of Alma and Matti Kaukonen at the Särestöniemi farm near the Ounasjoki river in Kittilä. The family later renamed itself after the farm. Reidar Särestöniemi studied art in Helsinki from 1947 to 1951. After this he studied for three years in the famous Repin Institute. Särestöniemi has had many exhibitions all over the world, with the furthest being in Japan in 1980. The President of Finland awarded Särestöniemi the title of Professor of Arts in 1975. Reidar Omang (26 November 1897 – 15 October 1964) was a Norwegian historian, librarian and archivist. Early life and education Reidar Omang was born in Oslo, Kristiania (now Oslo), Norway. His father, Simen Oscar Fredrik Omang (1867-1953), was a noted botanist. Omang took matriculation from the Skien public school in 1916. Reidar Kristofer Liaklev (15 July 1917 – 1 March 2006) was a speed skater from Norway who won the gold medal in the 5000 m event at the 1948 Winter Olympics. Liaklev was a long distance specialist, yet he won the European Allround Championships in 1948. Liaklev won bronze at the junior Norwegian Championships in 1939, and as for most athletes of his time, his career was interrupted by World War II. His first international senior tournament was the 1947 World Allround Championships, where he finished third on the 5,000 m, won the 10,000 m event, and placed fourth overall.
