Reidar Otto
Reidar Otto (December 9, 1890 – May 10, 1959) was a Norwegian theater director. Otto was born in Chicago, the son of the actor and theater director Harald Otto and the actress Ignatzia Otto. He studied theater and signing at schools in Dresden, Rome, and Stockholm. He became the director of the Norwegian Students' Society Theater in 1916, and then the co-director of the Central Theater in 1919 together with his father Harald Otto, who took it over in 1902. Reidar Otto led the theater from 1928 to 1948 and then turned it over to his son Harald Ottho (1920–2001). The family's leadership of the theater ended in 1959, the year Reidar Otto died. After the Second World War, Otto was chairman of the Norwegian Theater Directors' Association. Centralteatret ( en, Central Theater) is a theatre on Akersgata in the city centre of Oslo, Norway. Centralteatret was established by the husband and wife acting team of Johan Fahlstrøm and Alma Fahlstrøm in 1897. The theatre was especially known for a repertoire of the light genre including comedy, revues and operettas, but also classics (such as Ibsen) and new Norwegian drama. Harald Otto
Harald Otto (January 24, 1865 – May 13, 1928) was a Norwegian actor and theater director. Otto was born in Nes, Norway, the son of the stationmaster Hans Otto Hansen (1815–?) and Maren Paulsen (1832–?). He moved to the United States in 1886, and in 1890 he performed in the theater in Chicago, where he also married Ignatzia Johanna Osberg (1869–1945). He soon returned to Norway, where he worked in various theater groups from 1891 to 1900. He purchased the Central Theater in 1907 and he operated it until his death, with Torolf Voss serving as the theater's orchestra director. After Harald Otto's death, his son Reidar Otto took over the business. The theater remained in the Otto family until 1959. Sigrun Otto (a.k.a. Sigrun Enersen Otto, April 13, 1896 – August 15, 1980) was a Norwegian actress. She was married to the theater director Reidar Otto. Otto was born in Kristiania (now Oslo), the daughter of Otto Enersen and Thora Emilie Enersen. She debuted in 1912 and was employed at the Central Theater from 1914 to 1959. She married Reidar Otto in 1919. In addition to theater roles, she also appeared in several Norwegian films, and she played roles in NRK's Television Theater and Radio Theater departments. The Association of Norwegian Theatres and Orchestras ( no, Norsk teater- og orkesterforening, NTO) is an employers' organisation in Norway for theatre and symphony orchestra institutions.
