Reggie Savage
Réginald David Savage (May 1, 1970 – December 24, 2023) was a Canadian professional ice hockey player. Biography As a youth, Savage played in the 1982 Quebec International Pee-Wee Hockey Tournament with a minor ice hockey team from Saint-Hubert, Quebec. Savage represented Canada at the 1989 World Junior Ice Hockey Championships. Drafted in 1988 by the Capitals, Savage also later played for the Quebec Nordiques. Savage is notable as one of only five NHL players to score his first career goal on a penalty shot. After retiring from hockey, Savage worked in California for Marriott Hotels & Resorts Marriott Hotels & Resorts is Marriott International's brand of full-service hotels and resorts based in Bethesda, Maryland. 1988–89 QMJHL Season
The 1988–89 QMJHL season was the 20th season in the history of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League. The QMJHL first awards the end-of-season honours of the "Rookie All-star team" to first year players. The Quebec Remparts franchise returned as Longueuil Collège Français, bringing the league up to eleven teams. The league dissolved its divisions, and each team played 70 games each in the schedule. The league made it mandatory for all the teams' players to wear a full face shield covering their entire face. On February 9, 1989, the Drummondville Voltigeurs' coach and general manager Jean Bégin was suspended indefinitely after he was arrested and charged with sexual assault. The Quebec Maritimes Junior Hockey League (QMJHL; , LHJMQ), formerly the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League is one of the three major junior ice hockey leagues that constitute the Canadian Hockey League (CHL). The Victoriaville Tigres are a Canadian junior ice hockey team that plays in the Quebec Maritimes Junior Hockey League. The team is based in Victoriaville, Quebec. A penalty in ice hockey is a punishment for an infringement of the rules. Most penalties are enforced by sending the offending player to a penalty box for a set number of minutes. During the penalty the player may not participate in play. In ice hockey, an assist is attributed to up to two players of the scoring team who shot, passed or deflected the Puck (sports)#In ice hockey, puck towards the scoring teammate, or touched it in any other way which enabled the Goal (ice hockey), goal, meaning that they were "assisting" in the goal. In ice hockey, a goal is scored when the puck entirely crosses the goal line between the two goal posts and below the goal crossbar.
