Reggie Ranatunga
Reggie Padmasena Ranatunga (22 April 1937 – 31 May 2008) was a Sri Lankan politician belonging to the Sri Lanka Freedom Party. He was the third Governor of Sabaragamuwa, serving between June 2005 and February 2008. Reggie Padmasena Rantunga was born on 22 April 1937 and was educated at Nalanda College, Minuwangoda and Ananda Sastralaya, Kotte. Ranatunga's interest in politics resulted in his enrollment at the Moscow Faculty of Political Science in 1960. In 1962 he joined the Sri Lanka Freedom Party and was appointed the SLFP Organizer for Minuwangoda in 1986. At the 1989 parliamentary elections he was first elected to parliament representing Gampaha and was subsequently re-elected in 1994, 2000 and 2001. He served as the Minister for Civil Aviation (August – October 2000) and Minister of Food and Marketing Development (October 2000 – 2001) in the Kumaratunga cabinet, and the Chief Government Whip between 1 November 2000 and 10 October 2001. 1994 Sri Lankan Parliamentary Election
Parliamentary elections were held in Sri Lanka on 16 August 1994. They marked the decisive end of seventeen years of United National Party rule and a revival of Sri Lankan democracy. Background Democracy in Sri Lanka had seemed doomed as the presidencies of J.R. Jayewardene and Ranasinghe Premadasa arbitrarily banned opposition parties, severely muzzled the media, and routinely used death squads, torture, and kidnappings in the two civil conflicts against the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam, LTTE and Janatha Vimukthi Peramuna, JVP. Sripathi Sooriyarachchi
Sripathi Sooriyarachchi (8 September 1962 – 9 February 2008) was a Sri Lankan politician, member of parliament, lawyer and former wrestling champion. He was fired from his cabinet position after he accused Sri Lanka's president Mahinda Rajapaksa of entering into an accord with LTTE. He had alleged he faced death threats. In March 2007, he was arrested on charges of misusing a government vehicle He was associated with the Sri Lanka Freedom Party Mahajana faction. His parliamentary web page identified him as a member of parliament for the district of Gampaha District, Gampaha, a member of the United People's Freedom Alliance, and a Buddhist. His death is highly controversial and believed to have inside hands from the government.

Cricket
Cricket is a bat-and-ball game played between two teams of eleven players on a field at the centre of which is a pitch with a wicket at each end, each comprising two bails balanced on three stumps. The batting side scores runs by striking the ball bowled at one of the wickets with the bat and then running between the wickets, while the bowling and fielding side tries to prevent this (by preventing the ball from leaving the field, and getting the ball to either wicket) and dismiss each batter (so they are "out"). Means of dismissal include being bowled, when the ball hits the stumps and dislodges the bails, and by the fielding side either catching the ball after it is hit by the bat, but before it hits the ground, or hitting a wicket with the ball before a batter can cross the crease in front of the wicket.
