Regents Park, New South Wales
Regents Park is a suburb in western Sydney, in the state of New South Wales, Australia. Regents Park is located 22 kilometres west of the Sydney central business district, in the local government area of Cumberland Council and City of Canterbury-Bankstown. Regents Park shares the postcode of 2143 with neighbouring suburbs Birrong and Potts Hill. History The suburb took its name from a local property built by Mr Peck and Mr Johnson in 1879, which they had named after Regent's Park, in the north-west of London, United Kingdom. European Settlement The area was originally part of a land grant to Joseph Hyde Potts and the first subdivision was made in 1880. When the school opened in 1899 it was known as Potts Hill School, but became Sefton Park School in 1907 when this area became known as Sefton Park. In 1929, it was changed to Regent Park School. Town Hall railway station is a New South Wales State Heritage Register, heritage-listed underground suburban rail railway station, station located in the centre of the Sydney central business district in New South Wales, Australia. The station opened on 28 February 1932. It is named after the Sydney Town Hall, located directly above the station. History The station is built on the site of Sydney's earliest colonial cemetery, the Old Sydney Burial Ground. In 2008, part of this cemetery was being excavated from under the Town Hall. The station opened on 28 February 1932 and was built with six platforms, which were split over two levels with three platforms on each level. Merrylands railway station is a heritage-listed railway station located on the Main Southern railway line, Main South line, serving the Sydney suburb of Merrylands. It is served by the Sydney Trains Leppington & Inner West Line, T2 Leppington & Inner West and Cumberland Line, T5 Cumberland line services. History Merrylands station opened on 6 July 1878. In 1969, the Merrylands Road level crossing to the south of the station was replaced by the Mombri Street overpass to the north. In 1972, the signal box at Merrylands closed with operations transferred to Granville signal box. The Sydney Metropolitan Bus Service Contracts are contracts issued by the Government of New South Wales to metropolitan bus operators in Sydney, Australia, to operate its public bus route network. Since 2005, the government has moved from individual contracts with operators to larger contract regions, leading to the consolidation of bus operators. History In February 2004, the Unsworth Review of Bus Services conducted by former Transport Minister and Premier Barrie Unsworth, reported its findings to the Carr Government, recommending that the number of contract areas that existed in Sydney be reduced from 87 to 15 with a lead entity identified for each region to negotiate a contract. Lynda Voltz
Lynda Jane Voltz (born 1965) is an Australian politician. She is a Labor Party member of the New South Wales Legislative Assembly, representing Auburn since 2019. Career Voltz joined the Australian Army Reserve in 1984, and in 1987 she became one of the first women to the join the regular Australian Army as one of the second group of women to train alongside men at Army Recruit Training Centre at Kapooka. She joined the Royal Australian Corps of Military Police, as it was one of the few field force units women were allowed to join. After leaving the army, she worked as a political staffer for state MP Sandra Nori, federal member for Sydney Peter Baldwin, and then as an electoral officer for Senator John Faulkner.
