Reece Scarlett
Reece Scarlett (born March 31, 1993) is a Canadian professional ice hockey defenceman who is currently playing under contract with Vaasan Sport of the Liiga. He was originally drafted by the New Jersey Devils, 159th overall, in the 2011 NHL Entry Draft. Playing career Scarlett played midget hockey with his hometown club, the Sherwood Park Kings, in the Alberta Midget Hockey League after his talent was noticed to be originally selected 12th overall by the Swift Current Broncos in the 2008 WHL Bantam Draft. Scarlett was later signed by the Broncos and embarked on a major junior career in the Western Hockey League from the tail end of the 2008–09 season. After his second full season with the Broncos and having participated in the CHL Top Prospects Game, Scarlett was drafted in the sixth round, 159th overall, by the New Jersey Devils in the 2011 NHL Entry Draft. Sherwood Park, Alberta
Sherwood Park is a large hamlet in Alberta, Canada within Strathcona County that is recognized as an urban service area. It is adjacent to the City of Edmonton's eastern boundary. While long confined to generally south of Highway 16 ( Yellowhead Trail), west of Highway 21 and north of Highway 630 (Wye Road), portions of Sherwood Park have expanded beyond Yellowhead Trail and Wye Road since the start of the 21st century. Anthony Henday Drive (Highway 216) separates Refinery Row, in a portion of the Sherwood Park Urban Service Area to the west, from the residential and commercial hamlet to the east. Sherwood Park was established in 1955 on farmland of the Smeltzer family, east of Edmonton. With a population of 75,575 in 2024, Sherwood Park has enough people to be Alberta's sixth largest city, but it retains the status of a hamlet, though the Government of Alberta officially recognizes the Sherwood Park Urban Service Area as equivalent to a city. CHL Top Prospects Game
The CHL/USA Prospects Challenge is an annual junior ice hockey series between the Canadian Hockey League (CHL) and the USA Hockey National Team Development Program. The two-game series showcases the talents of top Prospect (sports), prospects for the upcoming NHL entry draft, entry draft of the National Hockey League (NHL), in a collaborative effort with the NHL Central Scouting Bureau to select the participants. From 1992 to 1995 the event was known as the CHL All–Star Challenge, between the three CHL constituent leagues–the Western Hockey League (WHL), the Ontario Hockey League (OHL), and the Quebec Maritimes Junior Hockey League (QMJHL).
