Redwoods Rising
Redwoods Rising is a joint venture of the Save the Redwoods League, California State Parks, and the National Park Service that works together to restore logged Coastal Redwood forests, and help remain Old-growth forest, old growth forests in Redwood National and State Parks. Redwoods Rising also works with local Indigenous peoples of California, Native American tribes. Redwoods Rising was founded in April 2018 at an event in Prairie Creek Redwoods State Park. Redwood National and State Parks as of public lands, of this land were commercially logged in the past. About 96 percent of the world's old-growth coast redwood forest has been logged. The work is being done in the California Coast Ranges in North Coast (California), North Coast of California's Redwood forests. Redwood National And State Parks
The Redwood National and State Parks (RNSP) are a complex of one United States national park and three California state parks located along the coast of northern California. The combined RNSP contain Redwood National Park, Del Norte Coast Redwoods State Park, Jedediah Smith Redwoods State Park, and Prairie Creek Redwoods State Park. The parks' 139,000 acres (560 km2) preserve 45 percent of all remaining old-growth coast redwood forests. Located in Del Norte and Humboldt counties, the four parks protect the endangered coast redwood (''Sequoia sempervirens'')—the tallest, among the oldest, and one of the most massive tree species on Earth—which thrives in the humid temperate rainforest. Prairie Creek (California)
Prairie Creek is the Redwood Creek tributary drainage basin including the inland portion of Prairie Creek Redwoods State Park. Prairie Creek drains southerly through a Plio-Pleistocene non-marine sedimentary and metasedimentary formation to a confluence with Redwood Creek approximately one mile upstream of Orick, California. The southern half of the channel exposes the Franciscan Assemblage and the lower reaches flow through Quaternary alluvium of the Redwood Creek estuarine floodplain. Prairie Creek was closely followed by U.S. Route 101 from Orick to the Klamath River drainage divide. The former highway alignment through the park has been designated the Newton B. Mill Creek, Del Norte, California is a major tributary to the Smith River in Del Norte County in extreme northwestern California, on the West Coast of the United States. Much of Mill Creek flows through the Del Norte Coast Redwoods State Park. Mill Creek watershed is south of the Smith River. Del Norte Coast Redwoods State Park
Del Norte Coast Redwoods State Park is a state park of California, United States, and a component of the Redwood National and State Parks. The property is about half old-growth forest of coast redwoods and includes of wild Pacific coastline. The park was significantly expanded in 2002 with the Mill Creek Addition. Yurok Indian Reservation
The Yurok Indian Reservation is a Native American reservation for the Yurok people located in parts of Del Norte and Humboldt counties, California, on a stretch of the Klamath River. It is one of a very few tribes who have never been removed from their ancestral lands in California. The reservation is serviced by California Route 169 from the south, which dead ends within the reservation. It is bordered by the Hoopa Indian Reservation to the south, adjacent to Redwood National Park to the west and completely surrounds the Resighini Rancheria. The 2000 census reported a resident population of 1,103 persons on reservation territory, mostly in the community of Klamath, at the reservation's north end. Tolowa
The Tolowa people or Taa-laa-wa Dee-ni’ are a Native American people of the Athabaskan-speaking ethno-linguistic group. Two rancherías (Smith River and Elk Valley) still reside in their traditional territory in northwestern California. Those removed to the Siletz Reservation in Oregon are located there.
