Redlynch is a semi-rural town and suburb of Cairns in the Cairns Region, Queensland, Australia. In the , the suburb of Redlynch had a population of 9,728 people. Geography Redlynch lies along the valley created by Freshwater Creek with the Redlynch Intake Road being the major artery running from north to south roughly parallel and west of the creek. Redlynch has the following mountains in the Whitfield Range: * Boiboi Peak (), * Mooroobool Peak (), Most of the land east of Redlynch Intake Road down to Freshwater Creek is used to grow sugarcane. The residential development occurs to the west of Redlynch Intake Road, while far eastern and far western parts of the suburb are undeveloped bushland on steep slopes rising to 500–600 metres which form part of the Barron Gorge National Park. Redlynch, Somerset
Redlynch is a village and former manor in the civil parish of Bruton, in the South Somerset district of Somerset, England. The 18th-century church and a folly named The Towers are of architectural interest. History Ownership In the mid-12th century the manor of Redlynch was held by Henry Lovel (died 1194) of Castle Cary. It was later part of the hundred of Bruton. In the late 14th century it was acquired by James FitzJames (died c. 1391), whose great-grandson, Sir John FitzJames (died c. 1542), Chief Justice of the King's Bench, is recorded in 1538 as having a house at Redlynch which included a "great chamber over a parlour". He was succeeded by his cousin Sir Nicholas FitzJames, who made improvements to the house. Sir Nicholas's heir was his nephew John FitzJames, who in 1617 sold the estate to Sir Robert Gorges of Bristol. In 1617 Sir Robert Gorges of Bristol purchased the estate from John FitzJames.
