Redlands Mall
Redlands Mall was a mall in Redlands, California with two anchors, CVS Pharmacy and Gottschalks. The mall, located on about 12 acres on Orange Street and Eureka Street between Redlands Boulevard and Citrus Avenue, was built in 1977. The mall permanently closed in 2010. The mall is scheduled for demolition and redevelopment in the fall of 2023. History The mall was planned in 1977 to revitalize the city of Redlands. After demolishing some stores and the La Posada Hotel, the mall was built by The Hahn Company. It offered more than 173,000 square feet of enclosed leasable space and a 12,586-square-foot freestanding retail building. It had two floors and contained a Sav-on Drugs store (which was re-branded to a CVS Pharmacy) and Harris'. The all cinder block brick design was criticized for not reflecting the design elements it replaced and its surrounding area. Redlands ( ) is a city in San Bernardino County, California, United States. As of the 2020 census, the city had a population of 73,168, up from 68,747 at the 2010 census. The city is located approximately west of Palm Springs and east of Los Angeles. History The area now occupied by Redlands was originally part of the territory of the Morongo and Aguas Calientes tribes of Cahuilla people. Explorations such as those of Pedro Fages and Francisco Garcés sought to extend Catholic influence to the indigenous people and the dominion of the Spanish crown into the area in the 1770s. Arrow (commuter Rail)
Arrow is a hybrid rail (light rail with some features similar to commuter rail) line in San Bernardino County, California, United States. Opened on October 24, 2022, the line runs from the San Bernardino Transit Center in Downtown San Bernardino in the west to the University of Redlands in Redlands in the east. The line was planned and constructed by the San Bernardino County Transportation Authority as the Redlands Passenger Rail Project and is operated under contract by Metrolink, which integrates Arrow into its commuter rail system. NIMBY (or nimby), an acronym for the phrase "not in my back yard", is a characterization of opposition by residents to proposed developments in their local area, as well as support for strict land use regulations.
