Redcliff (constituency)
Redcliff is a constituency represented in the National Assembly of the Parliament of Zimbabwe, located in Redcliff, Midlands Province. Its current MP since the 2023 election is July Moyo of ZANU–PF. History Redcliff was created out of Kwekwe constituency prior to the 2008 general election. It comprises Redcliff town, Ripple Creek and Komera. It also covers parts of Silobela, including St Marks, Totololo, Loreto, Gothic Mine and Hozoli. East of the Harare-Bulawayo Road it takes up to Shungu and Mlezu in Chiwundura. It is administered by Redcliff Municipality. However, five of its wards are under Zibagwe Rural District Council: 22, 23, 24 and 30, and parts of ward 3. National Assembly Of Zimbabwe
The National Assembly of Zimbabwe, previously the House of Assembly until 2013, is the lower house of the Parliament of Zimbabwe, Parliament of Zimbabwe. It was established upon Zimbabwe's History of Zimbabwe#Independence and the 1980s, independence in 1980 as one of Bicameralism, two chambers of parliament. Between the abolition of the Senate of Zimbabwe, Senate in 1989 and its reestablishment in 2005, the House of Assembly was the Unicameralism, sole chamber of parliament. Since the 2023 Zimbabwean general election, 2023 election, the National Assembly has had 280 members. Of these, 210 are elected in Single-member district, single-member constituencies. 60 seats are Reserved political positions, reserved for women, and are elected by proportional representation in 10 six-seat constituencies based on the country's Provinces of Zimbabwe, provinces. Zibagwe Rural District Council
Zimbabwe Rural District Council is a rural local government arm in Kwekwe District created under the Rural District Councils Act: Chapter 20.13. It was formed from the amalgamation of the former Kwekwe Rural Council and the Mashambazhou District Council in 1993. An RDC is the administrative equivalent of an urban town council, but for a rural area. Background There are 60 rural district councils from Zimbabwe's eight non-metropolitan provinces. Midlands Province has eight rural district councils, including Zibagwe RDC. The district is subdivided into 33 wards, and the registered villagers in each ward elect a councillor to represent them at the district level in the Rural District Council (RDC). A district is administered by both the district administrator (DA) and the council (RDC). The DA exerts considerable influence within council.
