Red Hot Music
''Red Hot Music'' is a 1937 animated short produced by Terrytoons, starring Kiko the Kangaroo. It is the fifth cartoon in the character's series. In the Castle Films reissue, the cartoon was retitled ''Red Hot Rhythm!'' Plot The film starts in a radio station building which is, for some reason, named after Kiko. Inside, an orchestra is performing upbeat jazz music. Their melody is well received by everybody just outside. As the musicians work hard on their performance, fires mysteriously break out in the building. At a nearby fire department, the alarm rings. The lead fireman, who is none other than Kiko the Kangaroo, leaps out of bed, and slides down the pole. He then heads his fellow firefighters toward the blazing building. Kiko and the firemen arrive at the radio station on time, and begin to spray their water cannons at it. While he struggles to enter the building, Kiko retrieves the victims collected by his colleagues. When he finally gets inside, he finds the rooms floode ... George Gordon (animator)
George Gordon (September 2, 1906 – May 24, 1986) was an American film and TV animator and director of animated productions. Starting in film in 1930, he moved to TV in its early days. Gordon is credited with hundreds of cartoons from 1937 through 1983. Biography Gordon began working with animation in 1930 at the Terrytoons Studio as an animator on the ''Jesse and James'' and '' Farmer Al Falfa'' Cartoons. In 1937, Gordon left Terrytoons for the Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer cartoon studio to work as an animator. During his career at MGM, he directed '' Barney Bear'' shorts and animated for '' Tom and Jerry''. Terrytoons Shorts
Terrytoons was an American animation studio in New Rochelle, New York, that produced animated cartoons for theatrical release from 1929 to 1973 (and briefly returned between 1987 and 1996 for television in name only). Terrytoons was founded by Paul Terry, Frank Moser, and Joseph Coffman, and operated out of the "K" Building in downtown New Rochelle. The studio created many cartoon characters including Fanny Zilch, Mighty Mouse, Heckle and Jeckle, Gandy Goose, Sourpuss, Dinky Duck, Little Roquefort, the Terry Bears, Dimwit, and Luno; Terry's pre-existing character Farmer Al Falfa was also featured often in the series. Carlo Vinci
Carlo Vinci (February 27, 1906 – September 30, 1993) was an American animator active from the 1930s to the 1970s. He is mainly known for his career at the Terrytoons and Hanna-Barbera cartoon studios. Among the characters he animated were the original Mighty Mouse, Yogi Bear and Flintstones. Biography He was born Carlo A. Vinciguerra on February 27, 1906 in the city of New York, as the only son of a family of Italian immigrants. His father Andrea was a barber, and his mother Maria a seamstress. He worked as a commercial artist from 1921 to 1932. In 1933, he was hired at the Van Beuren Studios in New York as an animator, where he trained a young newcomer named Joe Barbera. When Van Beuren closed, Vinci found work at the Terrytoons studio. In 1938, he met his future wife Margaret Leonardi. They married in 1939, they became parents to four children and they also had 10 grandchildren and were together for the next 54 years.
