Zenith (comics)
''Zenith'' is a British superhero, who appeared in the British science fiction comic '' 2000 AD''. Created by writer Grant Morrison and artist Steve Yeowell, with original character designs by Brendan McCarthy, the story first appeared in ''2000 AD'' #535 (22 August 1987). Zenith himself (real name Robert McDowell) did not appear until the second episode – the first episode set the backdrop for his introduction. Shallow and sarcastic, Zenith was a distinctly Generation X superhero. Morrison used the ''Zenith'' serial to explore cultural differences between generations and criticise the Conservative Party. ''Zenith'' was featured regularly in ''2000 AD'' from 1987 until 1992, with occasional appearances since. The series was an early success for Morrison, who has since written popular works for DC and Marvel, using their own characters. Elementals (Comico Comics)
''Elementals'' was an American superhero comic book first published in 1984 and created by Bill Willingham, for which he was both writer and artist. Published by Comico Comics, it lasted until 1996, including a series of specials and miniseries. Comico's publisher, Andrew Rev, purchased the ''Elementals'' property from Willingham in the 1990s. Fictional setting When a centuries-old sorcerer named Lord Saker built a machine called the Shadowspear to harness the supernatural powers of the world, he upset the natural order of the universe. In response, the four elements, unimaginably powerful spirits who together formed the foundation of existence, each chose an ordinary human who had been killed by their element, and resurrected him or her. They granted each control of that particular element, eternal youth, and the ability to heal from any wound (given sufficient time). Wisdom (comics)
Pete Wisdom is a fictional secret agent published by Marvel Comics. He first appeared in ''Excalibur'' vol. 1 #86 (February 1995), and was created by Warren Ellis and Ken Lashley. Wisdom is a British Secret Service agent with the mutant ability to throw "blades" of energy ("hot knives") from his fingertips. Publication history Pete Wisdom was initially created by Ellis and drawn by Ben Dilworth, in a pitch for ''Electric Angel'' for publisher Trident Comics. Wisdom was an angry young Essex man, with the power to summon electricity. Ellis said at Toronto Comicon 2005 that the character is based on Jack Regan from ''The Sweeney''. Later, at Marvel, Wisdom formally debuted, his first appearance was as an agent for the British covert organization Black Air in ''Excalibur'' vol. 1, #86 (February 1995).
