RedFaces were a British indie pop band from Sheffield, South Yorkshire. The band has three members: Harry Lyon, Isaac White and Charlie Yapp. The band signed to Sony Music UK's RCA Records in 2015. Biography RedFaces are a 3-piece indie rock band formed in Dronfield, Derbyshire in 2012 when the 3 founding members were still at school. Originally performing covers they quickly started adding original material to their live set and soon began attracting the attention of the local music community with their energetic live performances. The band gained an early fan in Dean Jackson, from BBC Introducing in the East Midlands, after they uploaded an early demo, leading to the band being invited to perform on the Allotment stage at the YNOT Festival in 2014. In January 2015 the band uploaded a new track, "Katie Come Home" to BBC Introducing, which led to widespread interest from the UK Record Industry. The Great Escape Festival
The Great Escape Festival is a four-day music festival held in Brighton and Hove, England every year in May. It is operated by MAMA Festivals and showcases new music from a variety of genres. The festival was founded in 2006 and hosts roughly 500 bands across 30 venues throughout the city. It has been likened to South by Southwest. There is also a music industry convention section to the event, which is attended by over 4000 delegates. The 2011 to 2022 conferences have been programmed by the team from music industry publication CMU. Psychedelic Pop
Psychedelic pop (or acid pop) is a genre of pop music that contains musical characteristics associated with psychedelic music. Developing in the mid-to-late 1960s, elements included " trippy" features such as fuzz guitars, tape manipulation, backwards recording, sitars, and Beach Boys-style harmonies, wedded to melodic songs with tight song structures. The style lasted into the early 1970s. It has seen revivals in subsequent decades by neo-psychedelic artists. Characteristics According to AllMusic, psychedelic pop was not too "freaky", but also not very " bubblegum" either. It appropriated the effects associated with straight psychedelic music, applying their innovations to concise pop songs. Athlete (band)
Athlete were an English indie rock band formed in Deptford, London, comprising Joel Pott (lead vocals and guitar), Carey Willetts (bass and backing vocals), Stephen Roberts (drums and backing vocals), Tim Wanstall ( keyboards). The band had a brief period of high-profile domestic success in which their debut album '' Vehicles & Animals'' (2003) was a platinum seller in 2005 and Mercury Music Prize nomination. It was followed up by '' Tourist'' (2005) which reached No. 1 and sold over 500,000 copies allowing this album to also go platinum. Stephen Paul Lamacq (born 16 October 1964), sometimes known by his nickname Lammo (given to him by John Peel), is an English disc jockey, currently working with BBC Radio 6 Music. Lamacq was appointed Member of the Order of the British Empire (MBE) in the 2025 New Year Honours for services to broadcasting and to music venues. Early life Lamacq was born in Bournemouth, and first lived in Ferndown. He and his family later moved to the Essex village of Colne Engaine and attended The Ramsey Academy from 1976, which had been formed the previous year from two grammar schools. DMA's are an Australian rock band formed in 2012 in Sydney, New South Wales. The band is composed of lead vocalist Tommy O'Dell, lead guitarist Matt Mason, and rhythm guitarist Johnny Took. They originally gained popularity for their debut single " Delete" and for their self-titled EP, which were both released in 2014. Isle Of Wight Festival 2017
The Isle of Wight Festival is a British music festival which takes place annually in Newport on the Isle of Wight, England. It was originally a counterculture event held from 1968 to 1970. The 1970 event was by far the largest of these early festivals and the unexpectedly high attendance levels led, in 1971, to Parliament adding a section to the Isle of Wight County Council Act 1971 preventing overnight open-air gatherings of more than 5,000 people on the island without a special licence from the council. The event was revived in 2002 with Rock Island 2002, and has since been held annually, except for 2020 when it was cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Kendal Calling is a music and arts festival, held annually at Lowther Deer Park in the Lake District, Cumbria in the North West of England. It has grown from a two-day, 900 capacity event in 2006 to a 40,000 capacity 4-day music festival.
