Trenches (band)
Trenches was an American metal band formed by Haste the Day vocalist Jimmy Ryan. They released two studio albums, '' The Tide Will Swallow Us Whole'' in 2008 and '' Reckoner'' in 2022. History Jimmy Ryan, a member of Haste the Day, at the time, decided to depart the band, when they were in Indianapolis, Indiana on December 30, 2005, doing a concert, where he is a native of the city. The group was formed, when Ryan selected Joel David Lauver to be a guitarist, keyboardist, and vocalist, Eli Larch Chastain to be a guitarist, Bill Scott to be a bassist, and Phil Hook to be their drummer. Trenches commenced as a musical entity, in 2007, with their first studio album, '' The Tide Will Swallow Us Whole'', that released on September 16, 2008, by Solid State Records. Their first concert occurred in the city of Noblesville, Indiana, on November 24, 2007. Metalcore is a broadly defined fusion genre combining elements of extreme metal and hardcore punk, originating in the 1990s United States and becoming popular in the 2000s. Sludge metal (also known as sludge doom or simply sludge) is an Extreme metal, extreme subgenre of heavy metal music that combines elements of doom metal and hardcore punk. Jimmy Ryan (vocalist)
James Christopher Ryan is an American singer. He is the original vocalist for the heavy metal bands Haste the Day, Trenches, and Upheaval. History Ryan began in the hardcore punk scene when he was 13, identifying with the straight edge and vegan culture. Although raised Catholic, he regarded organized religion as an authority figure to rebel against. Eventually, Ryan formed Upheaval with Brian Allen (bass), Jeremy King (drums), Nathan Stambro (guitars) and Ben Parrish (guitars) (also in Demiricous) in 1997. The band recorded their debut EP, ''Downfall of the Ascendancy of Man'' in 1997. In 1999, Ryan left the band along with Allen, and were replaced by Drew and Bryan Grimes. The band had been signed with Eulogy Recordings until Ryan quit the band and started on the path of becoming a Christian.
