Recital Of The Dog
''Recital of the Dog'' is a 1993 novel by David Rabe, and is notable as his first novel to be published. It is about a painter who kills his elderly neighbor's dog, then loses his grip on reality, descends into madness and begins behaving as if he were the neighbor's dog, leading him to commit a series of grisly murders. Plot summary A painter becomes annoyed by a neighboring dog that's harassing his cows. One day, he shoots the dog and buries it in the woods. However, he takes pity on his neighbor, an Old Man who is miserable without the dog, believing it to have been kidnapped. The painter makes visits to the Old Man's home, in an attempt to keep him company, but when Old Man treats him sadistically, the painter soon finds himself impulsively acting like the Old Man's dog. David Rabe
David William Rabe (born March 10, 1940) is an American playwright and screenwriter. He won the Tony Award for Best Play in 1972 ('' Sticks and Bones'') and also received Tony award nominations for Best Play in 1974 ('' In the Boom Boom Room''), 1977 ('' Streamers'') and 1985 ('' Hurlyburly''). Early life Rabe was born in Dubuque, Iowa, the son of Ruth (McCormick), a department store worker, and William Rabe, a teacher and meat packer. Career Rabe was drafted into the U.S. Army in 1965 and served in a medical unit during the Vietnam War. After leaving the Army in 1967, Rabe returned to Villanova University, studying writing and earning an M.A. in 1968. Charlie Rose
Charles Peete Rose Jr. (born January 5, 1942) is an American former television journalist and talk show host. From 1991 to 2017, he was the host and executive producer of the talk show '' Charlie Rose'' on PBS and Bloomberg LP. Rose also co-anchored '' CBS This Morning'' from 2012 to 2017 alongside Gayle King and Norah O'Donnell. Rose formerly substituted for the anchor of the ''CBS Evening News''. Rose, along with Lara Logan, hosted the revived CBS classic '' Person to Person'', a news program during which celebrities are interviewed in their homes, originally hosted from 1953 to 1961 by Edward R. Murrow. In November 2017, Rose was fired from CBS and PBS after ''The Washington Post'' published multiple in-house allegations of sexual harassment from the late 1990s to 2011. His employment at CBS was also terminated, and his eponymous show, ''Charlie Rose'', which used to air on PBS and Bloomberg, was cancelled.
