Jammu and Kashmir is administered by the Republic of India within the framework of a federal parliamentary republic as a union territory, like the union territory of Puducherry, with a multi-party democratic system of governance. Until 2019, it was governed as a state administered by India. Politics in the region reflects the historical tension and dispute that the state has been a part of in the form of the Kashmir conflict. Following is the list of the constituencies in the Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly. The Jammu and Kashmir Reorganisation Act, 2019, Jammu and Kashmir Reorganisation Act was passed to reconstitute the state of Jammu and Kashmir (state), Jammu and Kashmir into union territories of Jammu and Kashmir (union territory), Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh in 2019. In March 2020, a three-member Delimitation Commission of India, Delimitation Commission was formed, chaired by retired Justice Ranjana Desai, Ranjana Prakash Desai, for the delimitation of the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir. The final delimitation report was released on 5 May 2022 under which additional 6 seats were added to Jammu division and 1 seat to Kashmir division, taking the total tally to 90 seats. Ajay Nanda (born 1967) is an Indian politician from Jammu and Kashmir. He is an MLA from Reasi Assembly constituency in Reasi district. He won the 2014 Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly election representing the Bharatiya Janata Party. Ajay Nanda has served as the Minister of State for Finance and Planning, Information Technology, Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs, CA and PD, Tribal Affairs, Relief & Rehabilitation, and Labour and Employment during the Mehbooba Mufti ministry. Baldev Raj (9 April 1947 – 6 January 2018) was an Indian scientist and director of the Indira Gandhi Centre for Atomic Research (IGCAR) in Kalpakkam, India. Education He had a Bachelors in Engineering (B.E.) from Government Engineering College, Raipur Pt. Ravishankar Shukla University, Raipur (Now National Institute of Technology, Raipur), and a PhD from IISc, Bangalore, D.Sc. (h.c.) from Sathyabama Deemed University, Chennai. Career He was director of the Indira Gandhi Centre for Atomic Research (IGCAR) in Kalpakkam, India. He was also the director of the National Institute of Advanced Studies. Elections for the former Indian state of Jammu and Kashmir were held in September -October 2002 in four phases. Jammu & Kashmir National Conference was the single largest party but lacked majority. Elections for the Indian state of Jammu and Kashmir were held over September–October 1996. Farooq Abdullah became Chief Minister of Jammu Kashmir after the elections.
