Reality Italy
Reality Italy ( it, Realtà Italia, RI) was a regional political party active in Italy's mainland South. History The party was formed in March 2013 by Giacomo Olivieri, a regional councillor in Apulia, upon the break-up of Moderates and Populars, a regional party. Many high-ranking members of RI (notably including Elio Belcastro and Arturo Iannaccone) are supplied by Autonomy South, with which RI signed a federative pact. In 2013 RI established close ties with Pino Arlacchi MEP, member of the Democratic Party (PD) and former member of PCI, DS and IdV. In the 2013 regional election in Basilicata the party, which supported Democrat Marcello Pittella, obtained 5.9% of the vote and one councillor, Paolo Galante. In the 2014 municipal election in Bari Olivieri came second in the primary with 42% of the vote and the party won 5.5% of the vote in the general election. 2013 Basilicata Regional Election
The Basilicata regional election of 2013 took place on 17–18 November 2013. A snap election was called upon the resignation of the incumbent President, Vito De Filippo of the Democratic Party (PD), on 24 April 2013 and the subsequent dissolution of the Regional Council. Several regional ministers and councillors had been involved in an expenses scandal (and one minister and two councillors had been arrested). Basilicata is a traditional stronghold of the PD, thus Marcello Pittella (a former Socialist and brother of Gianni Pittella, Vice President of the European Parliament) was elected President by a landslide 59.6% of the vote. The 2019 Basilicata regional election took place on 24 March 2019. The election was for all 20 members of the Regional Council of Basilicata, as well as for the President of the Region, who is also a member of the council. This election was the last one in Italy before the European election of 26 May 2019. The original election date was 26 May 2019, but a snap election was called upon the resignation of the incumbent president Marcello Pittella, a member of the Democratic Party (PD), on 24 January 2019. Michele Emiliano (born 23 July 1959) is an Italian politician and former judge. He is the incumbent president of Apulia Region since June 2015, and he previously served as mayor of Bari from 2004 to 2014. Emiliano has often been considered a populist and regionalist politician.
