Re Minore
''Re Minore'' is an EP from the Icelandic string quartet amiina that was released during their 2009 tour. The title is Italian language, Italian for D minor. Amiina have previously worked with Kippi Kaninus who also accompany the band on the EP together with Kjartan Sveinsson. The EP is limited to 500 copies and the music was recorded at Sigur Rós' Sundlaugin studio in Iceland together with Birgir Jón Birgisson. The band's second studio album Puzzle (Amiina album), Puzzle features reworked versions of the songs on ''Re Minore''. Amiina
Amiina (formerly Amína, stylized in lowercase) is an Icelandic band composed of members Maria Huld Markan Sigfúsdóttir, and Sólrún Sumarliðadóttir, Magnús Trygvason Eliassen and Guðmundur Vignir Karlsson. In the past they have frequently performed live and in the studio with Sigur Rós. Their music is made with a great number of instruments. It contains elements of minimalistic style, contemporary classical, ambient, and electronic loops. In their performances each member will play many instruments, sometimes moving across the stage, going from one instrument to another mid-song. ''Kurr'' ( Icelandic for "Coo") is the debut album by the Icelandic quartet amiina. It was released on March 21, 2007, by their own label, Bláskjár Records, after being preceded by the single "Seoul" in late 2006. The album was partly recorded in Sigur Rós' Sundlaugin studio. Puzzle (Amiina Album)
''Puzzle'' is the second album by the Icelandic band amiina. It was released on September 27, 2010. This album has references to the bands EP ''Re Minore'' as the tracks "Ásinn", "Púsl" and "Sicsak" are re-worked versions of the songs "Ásinn", "Þristurinn" and "Tvisturinn" from that release. Additionally, the track "Mambó" is a re-worked version of the song "Ammælis" from the "Seoul" single. As part of the pre-order package for the album the band released a video of the band playing "Glámur" from their previous studio album, ''Kurr'', at the Reykjavík Arts Festival from 2008. This concert was the original quartets first performance together with Magnús Trygvason Eliassen and Kippi Kaninus (Guðmundur Vignir Karlsson) and it also marks the start of their collaboration. Kjartan Sveinsson
Kjartan Sveinsson (; born 2 January 1978) is an Icelandic musician who is the keyboardist for the post-rock band Sigur Rós. He joined the band in 1998. A multi-instrumentalist, he has also played such instruments as the flute, tin whistle, oboe, guitar and the banjo, as well as many of the unorthodox instruments that contribute to Sigur Rós's distinctive sound. Career Kjartan has performed under the pseudonym "The Lonesome Traveller" with Sigur Rós bandmate Orri Páll Dýrason and Amiina violinist María Huld Markan Sigfúsdóttir (whom Kjartan married in 2001). "The Lonesome Traveller" covered Sigur Rós songs acoustically in an alt-country style. Sigur Rós () is an Icelandic post-rock band that formed in 1994 in Reykjavík. Sundlaugin
Sundlaugin (, ''the swimming pool'') is a recording studio located near Álafoss in the town of Mosfellsbær in Iceland known for being the recording and rehearsal location of post-rock band Sigur Rós. The location was originally a swimming pool built in the 1930s which had been abandoned when Sigur Rós purchased it in 1999 and converted it and adjacent buildings into a studio. The band originally intended to record their third album, titled '' ( )'', in an abandoned NATO tracking base in the northernmost mountain in Iceland, but after inspection decided it was too impractical. Shortly after they found the abandoned pool lot in a rural neighborhood in Mosfellsbær. They bought the lot and transformed it into a studio. In order to fit the massive mixing console into the building, part of the roof was opened up and the console was lowered with a crane. 2009 EPs
9 (nine) is the natural number following and preceding . Evolution of the Hindu–Arabic digit Circa 300 BC, as part of the Brahmi numerals, various Indians wrote a digit 9 similar in shape to the modern closing question mark without the bottom dot. The Kshatrapa, Andhra and Gupta started curving the bottom vertical line coming up with a -look-alike. How the numbers got to their Gupta form is open to considerable debate. The Nagari continued the bottom stroke to make a circle and enclose the 3-look-alike, in much the same way that the sign @ encircles a lowercase ''a''. As time went on, the enclosing circle became bigger and its line continued beyond the circle downwards, as the 3-look-alike became smaller. Soon, all that was left of the 3-look-alike was a squiggle. The Arabs simply connected that squiggle to the downward stroke at the middle and subsequent European change was purely cosmetic.
