''Razpotja'' ( Slovene for ''Crossroads'') is a Slovenian quarterly cultural magazine, part of the Eurozine network of European magazines. History and profile Razpotja was founded in the autumn of 2010 in Nova Gorica, Slovenia, by a local association of students and young scholars of humanities and social sciences, with the aim to open a new space for public discussion. It has four issues per year, providing a platform for informed non-academic debate, mostly written from the perspective of the millennial generation. Each issue is dedicated to a topic of broad public interest, approached in the form of longreads articulating different standpoints. These articles are usually selected from responses to an open call for papers, thus enabling the participation of emergent authors. The magazine includes sections of contemporary debates and cultural phenomena in Europe and North America. Simona Škrabec
Simona Škrabec (Ljubljana, Slovenia, 1968) is a Slovene literary critic, essayist and translator who lives and works in Barcelona. She spent her childhood in the small town of Ribnica in the region of Lower Carniola. She has lived in Barcelona since 1992. Skrabec has translated several books from Slovenian to Catalan and from Catalan to Slovenian. In addition to these two languages, she is fluent in Spanish, Serbo-Croatian, German, English and French. Janko Kos
Janko Kos (born 9 March 1931) is a Slovenian literary historian, theoretician, and critic. He was born in Ljubljana in what was then the Kingdom of Yugoslavia as the son of the painter and sculptor Tine Kos. His father was a liberal and freethinker (during World War II a supporter of the pro-Communist Liberation Front of the Slovenian People), while his mother was a devout Roman Catholic. He studied at the University of Ljubljana, where he graduated from comparative literature in 1956. Among his schoolmates was the famous literary scholar Dušan Pirjevec Ahac. Mirt Komel (born 21 August 1980) is a Slovenian philosopher, novelist, sociologist, playwright, essayist and translator. Komel is currently employed as assistant professor in philosophy at the University of Ljubljana (Faculty of Social Sciences, Department and Chair of Cultural Studies) and researcher at the Center of Cultural and Religious Studies (University of Ljubljana, Institute for Social Sciences). Dean Komel
Dean Komel (born 7 June 1960) is a Slovenian philosopher. He was born in the small village of Bilje, Miren-Kostanjevica, Bilje in the Goriška region of Slovenia, then part of the Socialist Federal Republic of Yugoslavia. After finishing the Nova Gorica Grammar School, he studied philosophy and comparative literature at the University of Ljubljana. After further studies under Bernhard Waldenfels and Klaus Held in Germany, he obtained his PhD in 1995 on the theme of a hermeneutic critique of the anthropological orientation in contemporary philosophy. Miljenko Jergović (born 28 May 1966) is a prominent Bosnian writer. Biography Born in Sarajevo, SR Bosnia and Herzegovina, SFR Yugoslavia to Croatian parents, Jergović received his M.A. in literature from the Sarajevo University. Drago Jančar (born 13 April 1948) is a Slovenian writer, playwright and essayist. Jančar is one of the most well-known contemporary Slovene writers. In Slovenia, he is also famous for his political commentaries and civic engagement. Jančar's novels, essays and short stories have been translated into 21 languages and published in Europe, Asia and the United States. The most numerous translations are into German, followed by Czech and Croatian translations.
