Career Chowdhury was elected to parliament from a reserved seat as an Awami League candidate in 1996. She was the principal of Dhaka University Laboratory School and College. She was a presiding member of the Bangabandhu Parishad and the former president of the University Women's Federation College. Personal life Chowdhury was married to Abdul Matin Chowdhury. Death Chowdhury died on 2 May 2012 in Z H Sikder Women's Medical College & Hospital, Dhaka, Bangladesh. She was buried at Banani Graveyard. The Awami League, officially known as Bangladesh Awami League, is a major List of political parties in Bangladesh, political party in Bangladesh. The oldest existing political party in the country, the party played the leading role in achieving the independence of Bangladesh. It is one of the two dominant parties in the country, along with their traditional rival, the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP).
