Raymond McGinley
Teenage Fanclub are a Scottish alternative rock band formed in Glasgow in 1989. The group were founded by Norman Blake (Scottish musician), Norman Blake (vocals, guitar), Raymond McGinley (vocals, lead guitar) and Gerard Love (vocals, bass), all of whom shared lead vocals and songwriting duties until Love's departure in 2018. As of 2023, the band's lineup consists of Blake, McGinley, Francis Macdonald (drums, vocals), Dave McGowan (bass, vocals) and Euros Childs (keyboards, vocals). In concert the band usually alternate among its songwriters, giving equal playing time to each one's songs. Although often pegged as alternative rock, the group have incorporated a wide variety of elements from various Music genre, music styles. Teenage Fanclub have had a succession of drummers, namely Francis Macdonald, Brendan O'Hare and Paul Quinn. Keyboardist Finlay Macdonald (no relation) has also been a member. Summer Sundae
Summer Sundae (also called the Summer Sundae Weekender) was an annual music festival held in Leicester, England which initially focused on indie (music), indie, Indie folk, alternative, and local music. The festival began as a one-dayer in 2001 and grew year on year since then, adding first one and then two campsites, and later involved five stages running over three days. It was hosted by the city's De Montfort Hall, both in the hall itself, and over four outdoor stages in the hall's grounds, and including part of Victoria Park, Leicester, Victoria Park. A section of the park was fenced off for camping during the weekend of the festival. The festival was for a time sponsored in part by the digital radio station BBC 6 Music, which in return had exclusive broadcasting rights. Brendan O'Hare
Brendan O'Hare (born 16 January 1970) is a Scottish multi-instrumentalist musician, primarily known for being the drummer in the rock band Teenage Fanclub from 1989 until early 1994, and a member of and collaborator with Mogwai. Career O'Hare was brought up in Cambuslang, South Lanarkshire and studied at St Aloysius' College, Glasgow. He joined Teenage Fanclub in 1989, playing drums on several songs on their debut album, ''A Catholic Education''. He co-wrote with Teenage Fanclub on all albums during his tenure, but split from the group after completing the tour for the ''Thirteen (Teenage Fanclub album), Thirteen'' album, citing musical differences. at the time and went on to join Telstar Ponies, for which he worked on two albums.Strong, Martin C. ''The King'' is the second studio album by Scottish alternative rock band Teenage Fanclub, deleted on its day of release in 1991. The album is often derided as a hastily assembled contractual obligation to US label Matador (allowing the group to sign to Geffen without penalty). In 2020, Matador co-owner Gerard Cosloy confirms that ''The King'' was pitched to the label as the second release, but passed, saying it felt more like a contractual obligation fulfillment than a real album. However the group have denied this, claiming that the shambolic, spontaneous nature of the contents was a direct influence of producer Don Fleming, whose music was often improvised. ''Uncut'' is a monthly magazine based in London. It is available across the English-speaking world, and focuses on music, but also includes film and books sections. A DVD magazine under the ''Uncut'' brand was published quarterly from 2005 to 2006. Paperhouse (record Label)
Paperhouse Records was a British independent record label which operated from 1990 to 1993. The label was a short-lived joint venture by Glass Records owner David E. Barker and Fire Records owner Clive Solomon. It is named after "Paperhouse", opening track on '' Tago Mago'', the 1971 album by Krautrock band Can. Paperhouse issued Richard Hell's Dim Stars material, and records by Teenage Fanclub and other bands connected with Creation Records (The Pastels, The Servants). The label also issued material by the Kurt Cobain-championed Daniel Johnston. Paperhouse Records discography Albums may be in LP (PAPLP), compact disc (PAPCD), or cassette (PAPMC) format, with singles listed with variations on the PAPER prefix. ''A Catholic Education'' is the debut studio album by Scottish alternative rock band Teenage Fanclub, released in 1990. The album received positive reviews from UK music journalists and critics. "Everything Flows" was later included in the compilation albums ''Deep Fried Fanclub'' and ''Four Thousand Seven Hundred and Sixty-Six Seconds – A Short Cut to Teenage Fanclub''. Those were released in 1995 and 2003, respectively. Background Teenage Fanclub had been formed in 1989 as a continuation of what guitarists Norman Blake and Raymond McGinley and drummer Francis Macdonald had been doing in their previous band The Boy Hairdressers. BMX Bandits (band)
BMX Bandits are a Scottish guitar pop band formed in Bellshill in 1985. Led by songwriter and lead vocalist Duglas T. Stewart, their music is heavily influenced by 1960s pop. They have shared members with numerous other local bands, including Teenage Fanclub and the Soup Dragons. BMX Bandits were a favourite band of Kurt Cobain, who said "If I could be in any other band, it would be BMX Bandits". ''C86'' is a Audio cassette, cassette compilation released by the British music magazine ''NME'' in 1986, featuring new bands licensed from British independent record labels of the time. As a term, ''C86'' quickly evolved into shorthand for a guitar-based music genre characterized by Jangle pop, jangling guitars and melodic power pop song structures, although other musical styles were represented on the tape.
