Ray Silke
Ray Silke (born 17 August 1970) is a former Irish sportsperson. He played Gaelic football with his local club Corofin and was their centre-back and captain when they won the All-Ireland on St Patrick's Day in 1998. Corofin were the first Connacht Club to ever win the Andy Kerrigan Cup in '98 and the club won it several more times after that. He was also a member of the Galway senior inter-county team from the 1990s until 2001. Galway ( ; ga, Gaillimh, ) is a city in the West of Ireland, in the province of Connacht, which is the county town of County Galway. Connacht Inter-provincial Gaelic Footballers
Connacht ( ; ga, Connachta or ), is one of the provinces of Ireland, in the west of Ireland. Until the ninth century it consisted of several independent major Gaelic kingdoms (Uí Fiachrach, Uí Briúin, Uí Maine, Conmhaícne, and Delbhna). Between the reigns of Conchobar mac Taidg Mór (died 882) and his descendant, Aedh mac Ruaidri Ó Conchobair (reigned 1228–33), it became a kingdom under the rule of the Uí Briúin Aí dynasty, whose ruling sept adopted the surname Ua Conchobair. The Kerry County Board of the Gaelic Athletic Association (GAA), or Kerry GAA, is one of the 32 county boards of the GAA in Ireland. It is responsible for Gaelic games in County Kerry, and for the Kerry county teams. The Kerry branch of the Gaelic Athletic Association was founded in the year 1888. Football is the dominant sport in the county, with both the men's and women's teams among the strongest in the country at senior level. Liam Hassett
Liam Hassett (born 1975 in Killorglin, County Kerry) is an Irish Gaelic footballer who has played for Laune Rangers and Dublin side St Anne's, and played at senior level for the Kerry county team between 1995 and 2005. Hassett captained Kerry to the All-Ireland SFC title in 1997. He won All-Ireland Under 21 Medals in 1995 and 1996 as captain. He also won an All-Ireland Club Championship with Laune Rangers in 1996. He was a selector for the Kerry senior football team, under Éamonn Fitzmaurice. The 1998 Bank of Ireland All-Ireland Senior Football Championship was the 112th edition of the GAA's premier Gaelic football competition. The championship began on 3 May 1998 and ended on 27 September 1998. Galway's 1-14 to 1-10 victory over Kildare in the All-Ireland final meant that the Sam Maguire Cup returned to the county and the province of Connacht for the first time since 1966. This was Galway's eighth All-Ireland triumph in all. Kildare, managed by Mick O'Dwyer, had defeated the 1995 champions Dublin and the 1996 champions Meath to win their first Leinster title since 1956, before defeating the 1997 champions Kerry in the All-Ireland semi-final. The Meath County Board of the Gaelic Athletic Association (GAA) ( ga, Cumann Lúthchleas Gael Coiste na Mí) or Meath GAA is one of the 32 county boards of the GAA in Ireland, and is responsible for Gaelic games in County Meath, as well as for Meath county teams. Football County team The first notable Meath team was the Pierce O'Mahony's club from Navan that represented the county in the All-Ireland final of 1895, in the days when the competition was played between the champion clubs from each county.
