Ray Roberts (politician)
Herbert Ray Roberts (March 28, 1913 – April 13, 1992) was an American Democratic politician who represented Texas's 4th congressional district from 1962 to 1981. Early life and education Roberts was born in rural Collin County, Texas in 1913. He grew up in the ranching town of Westminster, Texas, just outside McKinney. Roberts graduated from McKinney High School. He attended Texas A&M University and North Texas State University (now the University of North Texas) before earning a bachelor's degree in agribusiness. Roberts earned his master's degree from the University of Texas. He served in the United States Navy from 1942 to 1945. He was the final individual off the USS Hornet when it sank at the Battle of the Santa Cruz Islands on 26 October 1942. Later, he saw active duty in the Korean War while as a member of the U.S. Naval Reserve. Ray Roberts (American Football)
Richard Ray Roberts Jr. (born June 3, 1969) is an American former professional football player. He played nine seasons in the National Football League (NFL) as an offensive tackle. Born and raised in Asheville, North Carolina, Roberts graduated from Asheville High School in 1987 and played college football for the Virginia Cavaliers, where he won the Jacobs Trophy in 1990 & 1991 as the ACC's top blocker. At and over , he was the tenth overall selection in the 1992 NFL draft, taken by the Seattle Seahawks. After four seasons in Seattle, he finished his career with the Detroit Lions. Following his playing career, Roberts returned to the Seattle area and was an assistant football coach at Interlake High School in Bellevue. He earned a master's degree in intercollegiate athletic leadership from the University of Washington in 2007. Raymond Roberts (August 25, 1895 – January 30, 1962) was a Major League Baseball pitcher who appeared in three games in Major League Baseball for the Philadelphia Athletics. After attending Mississippi State University and serving in World War I, he started his eleven-year professional baseball career with the Atlanta Crackers earlier in 1919. He was born and died in Cruger, Mississippi. Roberts batted left and threw right-handed, stood tall and weighed . In his brief tenure with Philadelphia, he started two games and relieved in a third.
