Ray Livingston
Ray Stanley Livingston (29 August 1922 – 31 October 2006) was a senior Australian public servant. He was Departmental secretary, Secretary of the Department of Northern Development (Australia), Department of Northern Development from 1972 to 1975, and from 1975 to 1978 Secretary of the Department of the Northern Territory (1975–78), Department of the Northern Territory. Life and career Livingston was born in Nyah, Victoria in August 1922. He enlisted in the Royal Australian Air Force in February 1941 during World War II serving as a pilot in Coastal Command in Europe. Livingston worked with the Departments of National Development from 1950 to 1956 and Trade and Industry from 1956 to 1972. Between 1959 and 1961 he was Commercial Counsellor in Washington DC. Nyah, Victoria
Nyah () is a town in northern Victoria (Australia), Victoria, Australia. The town is located on the Murray Valley Highway, in the Rural City of Swan Hill Local government in Australia, local government area, north west of the state capital, Melbourne. At the , Nyah had a population of 536. The town, on the banks of the Murray River was formed as the "Taverner Community Village Settlement" in the 1890s by Jim Thwaites as a utopian socialist community, one of many established along the Murray, including Waikerie, South Australia, Waikerie in South Australia. The communities were established in imitation of the New Australia settlement of William Lane in Paraguay. O'Connor is an affluent suburb of Canberra, Australia in the North Canberra district characterised by its leafy, heritage listed streets. It was named after Richard Edward O'Connor (1851–1912), who was a judge in the High Court and a founder of the Australian constitution. Lloyd Forrester Bott (8 April 1917 – 8 September 2004) was a senior Australian public servant. Early life Lloyd Bott was born on 8 April 1917 in Thornbury, Melbourne. He attended Northcote High School. Career After leaving high school, Bott qualified for the Commonwealth Public Service in 1933 and went to work in the Post Office in Sydney. He returned to Melbourne a year later and began to study at the University of Melbourne, Bachelor of Commerce, which he completed in 1948 when he returned from the Second World War, having served in the Australian Navy.
