Raw Air 2017
The Raw Air 2017 was the first edition of Raw Air, a ten-day tournament for men in ski jumping and ski flying held in Norway between 10–19 March 2017. It was part of the 2016–17 FIS Ski Jumping World Cup season. Fatih Arda İpcioğlu represented his country in qualifications of Lillehammer as first Turkish ski jumper in history of the World Cup competitions. On 18 March 2017, the world record was improved twice at Vikersundbakken; firstly, Robert Johansson jumped 252 metres (827 ft), and about 30 minutes later Stefan Kraft landed at 253.5 metres (832 ft). Competition Prize money The competition had a record high prize money of €100,000 in total for top 3 competitors in overall standings: €60,000 for the title, €30,000 for the second place and €10,000 for the third place. Stefan Kraft
Stefan Kraft (born 13 May 1993) is an Austrian ski jumper. He is one of the most successful contemporary athletes in ski jumping, having won the Ski Jumping World Cup and Ski Flying World Cup overall titles twice each, the Four Hills Tournament and Raw Air Tournament once each, and three individual gold medals at the World Championships. Since March 2017, he has held the ski flying world record of . Career Kraft's debut in FIS Ski Jumping World Cup took place in January 2012 in Bischofshofen. Richard "Richi" Freitag (; born 14 August 1991) is a German former ski jumper who competed at World Cup level from 2010 to 2022. Career His FIS Ski Jumping World Cup debut took place on 29 December 2009 at the Four Hills Tournament in Oberstdorf, having previously gained success in the Continental Cup. On 3 January 2010, he succeeded in Innsbruck with a 30th place-his first World Cup point. At the FIS Ski-Flying World Championships 2010 in Planica he reached the 28th place in the individual event. In his second season, he won the third place with the German team in Oberstdorf in 2011. At the beginning of the 2011/2012 World Cup, he finished 9th in Kuusamo. Peter Prevc (; born 20 September 1992) is a Slovenian ski jumper. He won the 2016 Ski Jumping World Cup overall title and four Olympic medals, including gold at the 2022 Winter Olympics in the mixed team event. Andreas Wellinger
Andreas Wellinger (born 28 August 1995) is a German ski jumper. His career-best achievements include winning an individual gold medal at the 2018 Winter Olympics, individual silver at the 2018 Winter Olympics, mixed team gold at the 2017 Ski Jumping World Championships, and team silver at the 2016 Ski Flying World Championships. Wellinger's best finish in the World Cup overall standings is fourth, in the 2016/17 season. Holmenkollen
Holmenkollen () is a mountain and a neighbourhood in the Vestre Aker borough of Oslo, Norway. It goes up to above sea level and is well-known for its international skiing competitions. Overview In addition to being a residential area, the area has been a ski recreation area since the late 19th century, with its famous ski jumping hill, the Holmenkollbakken, hosting competitions since 1892. Ole Gunnar Fidjestøl (born 21 March 1960) is a Norwegian former ski jumping, ski jumper. Career He won silver medals in the team large hill event at the FIS Nordic World Ski Championships, Nordic World Ski Championships (1987, 1989) as well as a bronze medal in the team large hill at the 1988 Winter Olympics. Fidjestøl won the FIS Ski Flying World Championships 1988, 1988 Ski Flying World Championships in Heini-Klopfer-Skiflugschanze, Oberstdorf and earned four additional career victories from 1985 to 1989. Vikersund
Vikersund is a town of 3,232 (in 2020) inhabitants in the municipality capital of Modum, in the county of Viken, Norway. Hroar Stjernen
Hroar Stjernen (born 11 February 1961) is a Norwegian former ski jumper representing Sprova IL and Trønderhopp. Career He won the silver medal in the team large hill event at the 1987 FIS Nordic World Ski Championships in Oberstdorf and finished fourth in the individual normal hill at those same championships. Stjernen's lone individual World Cup victory came at Bischofshofen in 1985. He later worked as national team coach for the Norwegian ski jumpers between 1998 and 2002, but was criticized for poor results, resulting in his dismissal in January 2002. This dismissal would have no impact upon the team at the 2002 Winter Olympics in Salt Lake City, as the national team went home without a medal for the second straight time at the Olympics.
