Ravishing Grimness
''Ravishing Grimness'' is the seventh studio album by Norwegian black metal band Darkthrone. It was released 29 September 1999 by Moonfog Productions. Nocturno Culto wrote the music for all the songs except "The Beast", which was the sole musical contribution by Fenriz, who contributed lyrics instead. In the album's booklet, Nocturno Culto was credited as "Nocturnal Cult". Also, all the Ts in the liner notes and lyrics were replaced with inverted crosses. ''Ravishing Grimness'' was re-released with new artwork in 2011 by Peaceville Records. Darkthrone
Darkthrone is a Norwegian extreme metal band from Kolbotn, Akershus. Formed in 1986 as a death metal band named Black Death, in 1991 Darkthrone embraced a black metal style influenced by Bathory and Celtic Frost and became one of the leading bands in the Norwegian black metal scene. Their first three black metal albums—'' A Blaze in the Northern Sky'' (1992), '' Under a Funeral Moon'' (1993) and '' Transilvanian Hunger'' (1994)—are sometimes dubbed the "Unholy Trinity". They are considered the peak of the band's career and to be among the most influential albums in black metal. Moonfog Productions is a Norwegian record label, founded by Satyricon frontman Satyr and Tormod Opedal. The label was established unofficially in 1992 and released its first record in 1994. Peaceville Records
Peaceville Records is a British independent heavy metal record label. The label was founded by Paul "Hammy" Halmshaw (of the bands Instigators and Civilised Society) in Dewsbury, England in 1987, who was also a one-time drummer of Sore Throat. Originally a tape label releasing anarcho punk, the releases moved towards metal through crust punk and similar forms of metal-influenced English hardcore punk. Halmshaw started running the label full-time in 1988, although the original tape label incarnation was founded in 1981 as a vehicle for releasing Instigators demo cassettes. The label is therefore known for the connection between doom metal and the 1980s English crust punk scene. Total Death
''Total Death'' is the sixth studio album by Norwegian black metal band Darkthrone. It was recorded in August and October 1995 at Ancient Specter Ruins and released in 1996 by Moonfog Productions. All of the album's lyrics were written either by members of other black metal bands or Nocturno Culto (unlike the band's usual method on other Darkthrone albums, in which Fenriz was the main lyricist). The album was released on CD and LP; the vinyl edition featured different cover art. In March 2011, ''Total Death'' was reissued by Peaceville Records with an extra track and an extra CD of commentary by the band members. Nocturno Culto
Ted Skjellum (born 4 March 1972), also known by the stage name Nocturno Culto, is a Norwegian musician best known as the vocalist, lead guitarist, and partial bassist (shared with Fenriz) of the influential black metal band Darkthrone. He has been with the band since 1988. He is also the vocalist of the band Sarke, and has a solo project called Gift of Gods. He currently works in Norway as a school teacher, and has a son and a daughter. He has also released a documentary film called '' The Misanthrope'' in which he deals with black metal music and life in Norway.
