Rauno Korpi
Rauno "Rane" Korpi (born June 25, 1951 in Tampere, Finland) is a Finnish ice hockey coach. He coached Tappara to three consecutive Finnish Championships in SM-liiga during the years 1986-1988. He has also won one additional Finnish Championship Gold, one Silver medal and one Bronze medal. Korpi has been chosen three times as The Coach of the Year in Finland. Other teams coached by Korpi include TuTo, EC KAC, and EV Zug. Korpi has also coached Finland's national ice hockey team during the years 1986-1987. He has coached Women's national teams and Junior national teams as well. EC KAC
Klagenfurt Athletic Sports Club or EC KAC () is an Austrian professional ice hockey team in the ICE Hockey League. The team plays their home games in Klagenfurt, Carinthia, Austria at Stadthalle. EC KAC has won the most Austrian ice hockey Championships, a total of 32 times including 11 consecutive titles from 1964 to 1974, and four consecutive from 1985 to 1988. Pentti Matikainen
Pentti Matikainen (5 October 1950 – 29 June 2025) was a Finnish hockey coach and general manager. He was selected the SM-liiga coach of the year in 1984. As the coach of the Finnish national ice hockey team, he led Finland to silver medals in the 1988 Winter Olympics and the 1992 World Championships, and to third place in the 1991 Canada Cup. Matikainen was the coach of HIFK from 1987 to 1990 and its CEO from 2001 to 2008. Matikainen died from cancer on 29 June 2025, at the age of 74. Alpo Suhonen
Alpo Suhonen (born 17 June 1948) is a Finnish former ice hockey coach. He and Ivan Hlinka of the Pittsburgh Penguins were the first European-born NHL head coaches in 52 years. Coaching career Suhonen worked for the Finnish ice hockey federation in the late 1970s until 1986. He coached the junior national teams and took charge of the men's national team in 1982. He was head coach of Team Finland at the 1984 Olympic Games and at four World Championships. After coaching Zürcher SC of Switzerland for two years (1986–1988) and a short stint at the helm of Finnish Liiga side HPK, he served as head coach of AHL's Moncton Hawks in 1989 and then joined the coaching staff of the Winnipeg Jets, working as an assistant. The Liiga, colloquially called the Finnish Elite League in English or FM-ligan in Swedish, is the top professional ice hockey league in Finland. The league comprises 16 teams from all around Finland with relegation and promotion between the Mestis. The winner of the Liiga playoffs is awarded the Kanada-malja at the end of each season. Teams from the Liiga participate in the IIHF's annual Champions Hockey League (CHL), competing for the European Trophy. Participation is based on the strength of the various leagues in Europe (excluding the European/Asian Kontinental Hockey League). Kiira Linda Katriina Korpi (; born 26 September 1988) is a Finnish figure skater. She is a three-time European Figure Skating Championships, European medalist (bronze in 2007 European Figure Skating Championships, 2007 and 2011 European Figure Skating Championships, 2011, silver in 2012 European Figure Skating Championships, 2012), the 2010 Trophée Eric Bompard champion, the 2012 Cup of Russia, Rostelecom Cup champion, a two-time Cup of China medalist, and a five-time Finnish Figure Skating Championships, Finnish national champion (2009, 2011–2013, 2015). EV Zug is a professional men's ice hockey team from Zug, Switzerland. It is a member of the National League and plays its home games at the Bossard Arena. History EV Zug won its first championship in the 1997–98 season, and the second one in the 2020-21 season. On October 3, 2011, the club defeated the New York Rangers of the NHL by the score of 8-4 in an exhibition game.
