Raulín Rodríguez
Raulín Marte Rodríguez (born June 16, 1970) is a Dominican bachata artist. He is one of the first major bachata artists to have international success. As a pioneer of the bachata genre, he helped grow the genre's popularity in the 1990s. While traditional bachata songs were often risque and suggestive, Raulín Rodríguez's idealized romantic lyrics widened the appeal of the genre of bachata, helping it get regular radio play. Rodriguez is known as "El Cacique" and is one of the most established musicians to ever come from the Dominican Republic. He has many international hits, including the songs: "Nereyda", "Medicina de Amor", "Soledad", Esta Noche, and many more. Three of them have been certified Platinum in the United States by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA). Elvis Martínez a.k.a. El Camarón (born January 5, 1976) is a Dominican singer, songwriter, and guitarist. He is a well known bachata artist known for hits such as "Maestra", "La Luz De Mis Ojos", "Asi Te Amo", "Yo Te Voy Amar", "Laudano", "Directo al Corazon", "El Profesor", "Aventura", among others. Early life Martínez was born in 1976 in San Francisco de Macorís, Dominican Republic. Martínez grew up in a poor family with his twelve brothers. As a child he worked as a shoe shiner, then as a bakery assistant. These were just some of the jobs he had to perform to help at home. This prevented him from finishing school. He moved to New York sometime in the early 90s. There he met Lenny Santos, one of the members of the soon to be group Aventura, one of the biggest Bachata acts ever. Luis Segura
Luis Segura (born in Mao, Dominican Republic year 1939), is a popular traditional Dominican singer often referred to as 'The Father of Bachata'. He is considered one of the best interpreters of traditional bachata with hits like "Pena por ti", "Dicen", and "No me celes tanto". Segura's first recordings were in the 1960s but it wasn't until his release of "Pena por ti" in the early 1980s that Segura hit stardom. Its immense popularity led to growing acceptance, making it the first Bachata song to be featured on FM radio. This broke the tradition of the genre being confined to AM broadcasts, which was predominantly diverted to rural areas, and elevated the genre's status by reaching urban and mainstream audiences. The 26th ''Billboard'' Latin Music Awards ceremony, presented by ''Billboard'' magazine, honored the best performing Latin recordings of 2018 and took place on April 25, 2019 at the Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas. Latin Airplay is a chart published weekly by Billboard (magazine), ''Billboard'' magazine in the United States. It was established on October 20, 2012. This chart lists the 50 most-played songs on Spanish-language radio stations across the country as monitored by Nielsen Broadcast Data Systems (BDS) weighted to each station's Nielsen Audio, Nielsen ratings.
